Job Description

  • Act as the tester within the scrum team; debugging software products through the use of systematic tests to develop, apply and maintain quality standards for company products, within the ‘AGILE’ framework / methodology
  • Complete the logging, tracking, communication, and resolution of issues / defects uncovered in test
  • Provide feedback to the rest of the scrum team and test manager with regards test progress, metrics and corrective action where required
  • Liaise with product owner(s) and other stakeholders in order to gather and share information amongst the scrum team
  • Actively participate in project-wide reviews of stories and design documents
  • Author test plans & test scripts, ready for sprint / story testing
  • Test the product release as needed to support the target release schedule
  • Analyse test results in order to discover, document and regress defects, bugs, errors, configuration issues, and interoperability flaws
  • Communicate test progress, test results, and other relevant information to project stakeholders and management
  • Attend relevant meetings, planning sessions etc. as part of the ‘AGILE’ process
  • Provide test support, where applicable,  to ensure that defined processes are correctly followed
  • Provide assistance, where applicable, in the production of any test harnesses / stubs / simulators that are required to aid test 


  • Bachelors/Masters degree in an engineering/scientific discipline e.g. electrical/electronic engineering, computer science, or similar
  • ISEB Foundation in Software Testing and/or ISEB Certified Agile Tester
  • Good knowledge and demonstrable skills of testing methodologies
  • Strong debugging and problem solving skills
  • Ability to use basic Linux commands
  • Skills in scripting or programming language and/or open source test tools (test automation)
  • Ability to work as part of a self-organising team in which you determine your tasks on a daily basis in coordination with coworkers, rather than waiting for work to be assigned to you
  • Demonstrable skill in continuous improvement
  • Ability to respond to change and adaptable in approach
  • Ability to recognise and deal with conflict situations in a constructive way
  • Understands project milestones and impact of own work on their achievement
  • Understands importance of their level of utilisation and their ability to influence the financial success of projects they are working on
  • Proficient in the use of standard office tools such as MS Word, MSExcel
  • Demonstrable experience working within an agile development environment
  • Demonstrable experience working with multi functional individuals and teams in a technical environment
  • Experience collaborating with programmers, business experts (owners) and external stakeholders as part of a continuous feedback cycle
  • Experience writing black box and GUI test cases, designing tests to mitigate risks and helping business experts define requirements
  • Experience writing simple SQL / MYSQL queries and insert / update statements and basic grasp of SQL / MYSQL databases
  • Experience in context-based, exploratory, or scenario testing
  • Experience of presenting to audiences of mixed skill sets and seniority
