Job Description

The opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Executive / Executive to join our Capital Equipment (CE) Valuation practice in Valuation & Business Modelling, part of an expanding team. 

The CE team works on a wide variety of assignments, from office-based to national and international travel; small to large clients; from an assignment that lasts a couple of days to very large assignments working as part of a multi-disciplinary team. 

Our CE team is part of the wider EMEIA CE team with professionals located in GSA, FraMALux, CSE, CIS, India and MENA. This is a growing team that works across Sub-Areas to provide market leading advice. The group draws upon the wide range of experience within the team with backgrounds in financial reporting, engineering, transactions, investment banking, business modelling and business analysis. 

  • Assimilate plant & equipment assets from financial/valuation perspective.
  • Prepare and create models in order to support the valuation of plant and equipment assets.
  • Prepare and present reports that support these valuations.
  • Stay abreast of current business and economic development that are relevant to the client’s business.
  • Use technology and tools to enhance the effectiveness of the valuation services provided.
  • Inspect plant & equipment both in UK & overseas and for short or extended periods.
  • Conduct equipment market research.
  • Identifying issues and drawing to attention of manager/partner and contributing to discussions.
  • Formulating views on value.
  • Deliver valuation on time and to assignment budget and timetable.
  • Develop network of contacts (internal & external).
  • Contribute to broader E&Y business (especially Transaction Advisory Services).
  • Capture and share relevant knowledge from each assignment.
  • Generate ideas to maximise assignment profitability.
  • Supporting revenue generation initiatives.
  • Contribute to group learning and development.

  • Requirements

    Personal Qualities: 

  • Strong organisational and interpersonal skills along with client focus are important, as well as attention to detail and the ability to work as part of a team or individually under pressure.
  • We are looking for a keen problem solver who can analyse and interpret information, form their own views, present their findings and argue their case in a clear, logical manner in person or in writing.
  • You must also be willing to travel internationally, often at short notice and occasionally for extended periods.
  • Engineering or technical background is preferred but not essential, however an interest in investigating and assimilating plant and equipment assets is essential.
  • A commercial outlook is essential, as are flexibility, diplomacy and communication skills to build relationships at all levels. The work can often be complex, so a logical approach is essential.
  • You’ll need to be a team player with the ability to manage assignments, make sound judgements and link your findings to an appreciation of the market.

  • Experience/Qualifications: 

    The successful candidate will have a financial and/or engineering or technical background. 
    In addition the candidate should have;
  • Mechanical aptitude and / or solid understanding of manufacturing industries and processes and model building
  • Strong Excel and Access skills
  • A University degree in a technical field (engineering/science/finance) and a sound knowledge of corporate finance
  • Good report writing skills and fluency in English
  • Willingness to progress toward RICS or other professional designation equivalent
