A rare opportunity has arisen for an experienced Project Engineer to join our specialist Broadcast Services Delivery Support team at Sky. Working within the department responsible for providing technical support for Sky’s Broadcast related technology systems, the Broadcast Project Engineer will work within a highly skilled Project Team across internal departments, providing technical insight for leading edge solutions in the Broadcast environment.
This key individual will bring their Broadcast Project Engineering experience and knowledge to ensure designs are fit to be implemented, test plans are made then performed and a full handover is given to support teams on project completion.
A cornerstone in influencing and delivering the new functionality, this role requires a Broadcast background to be able to understand and implement up to date, carefully thought through technical engineering solutions in line with industry standards. You will need to be highly skilled in solving technical engineering problems and be able to communicate solutions and ideas, involving fellow engineers and members of the business. Your documentation skills will be excellent along with your ability to communicate clearly ensuring effective and efficient delivery of the technical solutions. Working in partnership with a specific Project Manager, the Project Engineer must also be able to understand the tracking of finances and be able to monitor the progress of a project, to allow you to provide clear and unambiguous written and verbal reporting of a highly technical nature for regular and ad hoc reports. You will have proven effective problem solving techniques within a highly technical and fast moving environment, with experience working on high profile industry projects delivering to challenging deadlines.
Educated to degree standard or equivalent, you will have a solid understanding of technical elements of broadcast production and transmission platforms and an awareness of future technological developments. Experience of Encoding and compression systems (both SD and HD), MPEG/DVB standards and the ability to understand and modify AutoCAD drawings are essential.
You will bring a full understanding of IT and Networking for fault finding and assisting in resolving issues, along with solid knowledge in technical elements of broadcast television – encompassing both current requirements and emerging digital television technologies. You will possess excellent attention to detail and the ability to work in an organised manner, managing your own workload, ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget, within the agreed scope and to the quality expected by a FTSE 100 company.
