Job Description

Our Client is an innovative food manufacturing company. The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will oversee all Operations functions. This role reports to the Vice chairman and collaborates with the CEO to develop and execute operating strategies, and is charged with facilitating these efforts across 3 manufacturing facilities and 3 operational units that will include a greenfield farming operation. Through a respectful, constructive and energetic style, the COO provides leadership, management, and vision necessary to ensure that the Company has the proper operational controls and procedures in place to effectively grow the organization and to ensure financial strength and operating efficiency.


Managerial Responsibilities:

    Responsible for capital planning and expenditures
    Coordinate production volumes and responsibilities across all locations.
    Responsible for launching and monitoring production methods, to ensure high quality and cost efficient production processes
    Controlling, evaluation and information of activities related to cost-efficiency, consistency, quality, accuracy and compliance with standards and implementation of activities minimize differences
    Assurance of service excellence by implementation of processes, which guaranties in time delivery of quality products
    Assure compliance of company guidelines and legal prescriptions in all operating sequences
    Financial planning responsibility; Goal setting and KPIs for various production and operational areas
    Creation of a plant data collection system, that helps to evaluate the plant performance as well as delivering the production scheduling sales data, trends, costs and future transactions
    Establishment of an efficient staff-collaboration on national level, ensuring of the expertise, knowledge and skills needed for fulfilling satisfactorily all delegated tasks and competences
    Collaborate with the management team to develop and implement plans for the operational infrastructure of systems, processes, and personnel designed to accommodate the rapid growth objectives of our organization

Leadership Responsibilities:

    Ensure information flows in all directions
    Direct responsibility to CEO.
    Motivate and lead a high performance management team; Mentor direct reports to cultivate skills and to increase awareness of the inter-relationship between each department in the operations group
    Implement provisions established by department and production managements
    Implement provisions established by work safety specialists
    Support and coach plant managers
    Display absolute integrity, trust, and responsibility within a stressful, fast paced environment

Technical Responsibilities:

    Ensures all plants perform optimally.
    Create and distribute weekly scorecard and operational overview for Senior Executive Team
    Establish technical standards and ensure adherence to them for company operations
    Gather and analyze customer tends to assist in developing corporate strategy
    Establish compensation, training, short and long-term goals for the operations groups
    Establish key performance indicators for management of the operations group

Proven leadership and communication skills:

    Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs; ability to lead others through change
    Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
    Skill in organization and prioritization, and attention to detail
    Strong team player and leader with the ability to work across multiple functions, disciplines and cultures

Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

    All candidates must be at the VP of Operations, COO or CEO level.
    10 – 20 years of Operations leadership and management experience with the day-to-day operations for a 35 million Naira or moreagro-allied,food manufacturing and distribution company managing a diverse workforce of 500 - 1000 employees.
    All candidates must be capable of assuming the CEO position within 18 months.
    Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.
    Master of Business Administration from an accredited college or university preferred.
    Certification in Lean Manufacturing highly preferred.
