Job Description

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To learn to assist in the delivery of Planned Maintenance and improvement schemes and the effective supervision of Construction and Engineering developments working in partnership with the relevant Departments to ensure efficient and effective delivery of the service.


1. Learn to assist with the design and specification of planned maintenance schemes with the Maintenance Contractor.

2. Learn to assist in all areas of contract inspection including investigating, monitoring, measuring and agreeing payment for works with the Maintenance Contractor.

3. Learn to monitor all Development Control construction and ensure compliance with the relevant contract.

4. Learn to complete a register of information regarding inspection and construction of work on development sites.

5. Learn about public relations including dealing with complaints, communication with the public and public bodies.

6. Learn about control of emergencies during and outside working hours with direct control of staff involved.

7. Learn to check estimates prepared by the Maintenance Contractor for agreed planned maintenance and improvement schemes.

8. Learn to ensure that the Client and the Designer roles and responsibilities as defined under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations are fully complied with including any temporary Traffic Regulation Orders necessitated by the works.

9. Undertake the apprenticeship training in Construction, Engineering and Key Skills in Communication and Application where required.
