Job Description

The Crew Controller reports to the Senior Crew Controller on a day to day basis and ultimately Manager Crew Control.

The Crew Controller is responsible for a period of 72 hours (but not limited to) of Flight Deck and Cabin Crew rosters. It is expected that the Crew Controller will make short term plans to provide optimum utilisation of manpower ensuring that all changes are made in accordance with the companies Fatigue Risk Management Policy and ultimately the GCAA Flight time Limitations.

The Crew Controller will ensure that all flights are crewed to the required levels and will take corrective action for any sickness or operational disruption that may occur. Changes will be made swiftly and error free.


Ensure all crew comply with the GCAA’s rules and regulations
Ensure all crew comply with Etihad Fatigue risk management policy
Ensure all Etihad flights are crewed to the correct crew compliment
Ensure all crew are legal and current to fly
Maintain overview of the daily operation
Act on any aircraft delays/diversion/operational change quickly and efficiently
Be aware any current and potential future issues with crew legality
Feedback any roster issues to Senior Crew Controller
Arrange hotac and crew positioning tickets
Responsible and accountable for identifying safety risks in accordance with risk assessment process, and ensures that adequate risk mitigation steps are appropriately implemented in order to ascertain safety within the workplace


Qualification & Education:

Educated to a minimum of high school certification, ideally degree qualified from a recognised university
Any course related to aviation would be advantageous


Minimum 5 years’ experience of airline operations, with 3 years spent in a Crew Control position

Training & Knowledge:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills
High computer literacy, including knowledge of Microsoft applications
Ability to work unsupervised under pressure, using a considerable amount of self-initiative in a constantly changing environment
In depth knowledge of an Flight Time Limitations scheme
Knowledge of airline operations; and computerized crewing systems, preferably AIMS
