Job Description

Reporting to the Group Senior Director of Education, this post will be responsible for the development of a strategic plan that provides for ongoing up-skilling of all GEMS teachers and those who aspire to be a GEMS teacher.

The successful candidate will identify and develop new opportunities to work with external accrediting agencies that will offer teacher training accreditation and qualifications for teachers who pass through the GEMS Teacher Training Academy

Additional responsibilities to include;

§  Embrace and encourage the ethos and standards of excellence as defined in the GEMS Core Values.

§  Develop medium to long term action plans that will create a pipeline structure that delivers sufficient and well qualified teachers in line with the objectives of the group’s growth strategy.

§  Ensure suitable teacher training structures exist or are developed in regions which represent significant growth potential for the company.

·         Identify and develop joint venture teacher training opportunities

§  Coordinate due diligence and feasibility research on any potential teacher training partners prior to presenting to the Education Exec and Group COO including but not limited to financial modeling, legal compliance and regulations.

§  Lead presentations to the Group COO, Education Senior Executive, Head of Legal and CFO and other senior directors, to gain approval for joint agreements with accrediting bodies.

§  Through new and existing networks and relationships with accrediting agencies secure long term commercial and educational agreements

§  Ensure the GEMS policies, procedures, and codes of conduct are followed at all times.

§  Initiate effort and energy beyond the typical work day, where the tasks require additional commitment.

§  Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as required.


This role would ideally suit an educationally astute leader with a minimum of fifteen years in education. A proven track record of leading teacher training is a key requirement.

 A commercial background and/or understanding of the commercial opportunities that such a venture presents is an advantage.

You should hold an MA or professional qualification from a reputed institution with an extensive network of contacts within the education centre.
