-This is a highly flexible role that demands great commitment and initiative from the role holder. The Distribution Centre Regional Supplier Manager role is critical to the success of Apple in EMEA and hence an ability to adapt to changing circumstances, respond to business need and an appetite to constantly seek opportunity to improve is vital for success.
-The role is DC focused and is principally aimed at ensuring that the DC's perform consistently in the area of service, predictability, quality and cost.
-In delivering this consistent performance, the DC RSM is to ensure that all activities are carried out consistent with the Apple SOW and Master Agreements
-It is the responsibility of the DC RSM to ensure robust plans are in place to support the execution of day-to-day activities and key events such as Spring Back, Qtr. End, Peak Volume Periods and New Product Introduction processes.
-The DC RSM provides the principal point of contact for the Logistics Partner and hence needs to be available, often out of normal hours. The role can also involve weekend work; however discretion needs to be exercised by the DC RSM as to when they work.

Although the role is principally focused on operations execution a key part of the role is also continuous improvement. This can take the following form:
-Project participation and leadership within the DC environment
-Project participation and leadership within the Logistics environment
-Project participation and leadership within the wider Apple business environment
-The DC RSM is the first point of contact for escalation and needs to use their judgement to determine the next stage of escalation or action

-Task division:
-Site activity = 40%
-Leadership & Coaching = 20%
-Projects = 30%
-Admin = 10%

-Key dimensions: 
-This role reports to the Regional Logistics Manager
-The principal focus is the DC in which the role is based; however the scope of the role can and does extend beyond the boundaries of the site into areas such as: transport activities, retail operations, planning and inventory control
-The role holder, as a business manager, needs to look beyond their immediate site to ensure the wider needs of the business are being met by the site and EMEA Logistics in general
-The DC RSM is required to ensure billing to Apple is correct and consistent with the SOW and any agreements reached on site. This responsibility is shared with the Finance Analyst and the Global Supplier Manager for the DC partner.
-The role can have other employees reporting into it as circumstances dictate

-Ops Processes and procedures:
-Accountable for setting operational objectives with the Logistics Partner in accordance with business plan and targets 
-Ensure operational improvement plan is in place focused on service level agreements and operational objectives 
-Ensuring that Logistics Partners’ processes are robust, documented and reviewed regularly, and that training matrices and SOP’s reflect current process.
-Effective understanding of compliance with health and safety regulations and environmental and quality standards
-Ensuring best practice methodologies are clearly defined and delivered to all EMEA Logistics operations 
-Actively engage with Logistics Partners Security lead to remove any and all exposure to Apple’s and customers products 
-Monitoring and measuring:
-At an operational level ensure that the DC partner has a robust process for Workflow management and monitoring.
-Overall accountability for operational performance to Service Level Agreements and Key Performance Indicators
-Developing effective and meaningful metrics to support business objectives introduce and manage root cause analysis techniques for process failure and issue resolution management
-Monitoring performance through operational reviews and audit.

-Planning & Resource Mgmt:
-Responsible to ensure that the DC partner has robust process for capacity and resource management in place and that this process is utilized as a standard business and operations planning tool
-Responsible for effective two-way communication processes with internal and external teams and managers.
-Respond to escalations and deal with these escalations effectively and efficiently.
-Ensure that Logistics Partners’ resource plans and skills levels are consistent with Apple Forecast plans and needs
-Engages with the Supply Demand Management team to understand product forecast and represents the DC capability in this process.



  • -Logistics industry experience
  • -Line management experience ideally up to Operations Manager or above
  • -Will have ideally worked in logistics operations across a range of disciplines such as FMCG, Multi temperature regime, bulk, single item pick, parcel or others
  • -Project management skills and evidence of success required
  • -Understanding of transport operations preferred
  • Technical competencies:
  • -Thorough knowledge of logistics business, including, process knowledge and understanding particularly inbound, middle bound and outbound,
  • -Warehouse IT systems,
  • -Has knowledge of 6 sigma or other accepted process improvement methodology
  • - Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations as they apply to the region and Distribution Centre environment
  • -Knowledge and understanding of structured methodologies for planning and delivery.
  • -Able to identify opportunities, secure buy in and successfully execute the initiative
  • -Commercial acumen, taking into account both detail and the bigger picture
  • Fluency in English a Must, with Arabic a distinct advantage.

    -Industry qualifications such as MSC In Logistics, CPC or equivalent preferred but not essentia
