To work across IT projects for Capital Markets (CM) Finance to understand and articulate their requirements to solve business problems or assess system impacts to business or IT driven change. This is particularly to respond to internally driven changes for process efficiency or improved control and externally driven changes, such as regulatory rule or accounting principle changes.
Requirements gathering (20%)
Working with users in the Finance department to understand, document and articulate their functional requirements with expectations of how the users will work with the systems to fulfil their business processes.
Document the non-functional requirements, such as expected volumes of data to be processed, expected performance of the system, etc.
Describe business rules such as: turning trading events to accounting events; or derivations such as calculations, classifications required by regulators
Data mining and sourcing back to Front Office and Back Office systems
Data analysis and data modelling to ensure clear understanding and completeness of the data required by the users to fulfil their process
Assess the impact of upstream system changes and change requests
Draw diagrams to show data flows across systems
Create test cases and test scenarios from the requirements to prove all requirements have been addressed by the systems solution
Execute tests and review test results, analysing the differences with expected results to suggest likely root causes
Communication & Relationships (20%)
Regularly keep project managers appraised of work in progress and potential project risks
Occasionally work with 3rd party vendors.

IT/Software Engineering or Accounting related degree/certification is required – this is a technical role working within IT for the Finance department, therefore the candidate needs to be proficient with the IT software development lifecycle process, IT terms and methods or have strong accounting and financial product knowledge
Solid proven experience within capital markets
Considerable experience within a Finance related department (i.e. able to understand and articulate the key processes and responsibilities within the Finance department of an investment bank)
Familiar with financial products, such as securities, derivatives and repos (i.e. able to understand and articulate the key features and lifecycles of these products)
Has worked with sub-ledger and account posting engines and can articulate their key functions and responsibilities
