The front desk manager is the face of the motel. S/He is the first person a guest meets when checking in and the last person s/he sees when checking out. The front desk manager also is the person a guest calls if s/he needs room service or a wake-up call or has a problem with the accommodations. A front desk manager must be friendly, courteous and accommodating to every guest's needs and be able to resolve issues efficiently. Typical Duties: • Front desk managers register guests, make and modifying reservations and perform concierge duties such as answer questions regarding the area, events or attractions. • Front desk managers often prepare daily reports, balance transactions and, particularly if working the overnight shift, conduct security walks. Working Conditions Front desk managers especially those working overnight, often work alone and must be able to work without supervision. As a front desk manager, you must also be able to resolve guest issues and be able to respond to emergencies that may arise. Often, the front desk manager is the manager on duty and is in charge of the staff. You may coordinate schedules, resolve employee issues and always ensure that guest services are not interrupted.
