The ideal candidate has worked in the capacity of a senior or lead geotechnical engineer or geotechnical resident engineer for a consulting engineer or as a geotechnical engineer for a contractor on major tunnelling programmes involving large diameter shafts, pipe jacking, microtunnelling with pressurized face MTBMs.Education: Master’s degree in a geotechnical-related field preferred – mining degrees considered. Prefer Chartered Engineer (UK), PE (USA) or equivalent professional qualification/membership.
General Experience: Minimum 15 years related experience in geotechnical works, with particular experience in shaft construction, pipe jacking and microtunnelling. Minimum five years experience as a geotechnical lead.
Specific Experience Desired:
Demonstrated success in the geotechnical management or providing geotechnical expertise on large underground contracts.
Specific experience of working with pressurized face MTBMs on soft ground tunnelling works.
Specific experience of working with shaft construction by sheet piling, caissons, secant piling and SCL works.
Specific experience of working with pipe jacking and microtunnelling works
Good general geotechnical experience on heavy civil engineering projects.
Some tunnel design experience preferred.
Good knowledge of unforeseen ground condition claims for underground works.
Computer literate – proficient in MS Office.
Articulate and can present clearly and professionally to experts in underground works and novices alike.
Competent at writing – can present views clearly and concisely in good written English.
Culturally aware - used to handling a multi-cultural, multi-religious staff.
Good team player with high energy levels.
