As a Graduate Cost Consultant, you will be tasked with assisting the delivery of pre and post contract services to customers.
Contributing to the provision of cost consulting services, you will undertake a wide range of activities which will aid the delivery of property projects and grow your skill set and marketable abilities. Specifically, you will take measurements from technical drawings, assist with the estimation of builders' works and help to develop the financial aspects of feasibility studies.
You will assist in the tendering and procurement processes of contractors for projects and aid in the creation of contract documents. Additionally, you'll monitor project costs, help with the pricing of variation and change control processes for project finance and play a part in the financial reporting for projects during the post-contract phase.
You must have at least a 2:1 or equivalent in quantity surveying, a RICS accredited degree or a relevant post graduate degree.
It is also essential to have the following gained from your studies, commercial experience or similar:
- Well developed technical skills
- Experience of preparing tender documents
- A proven track record of estimating builders' works
- Experience of taking measurements from drawings
As a Graduate Cost Consultant, you must be enthusiastic and articulate with passion and confidence. An ambitious self-starter, you must also possess drive and great influencing skills as well as the ability to work to deadlines and operate within a fast-paced environment.
The ideal candidate will have at least one year's post qualification experience in a cost consultancy position. Prior experience of major cost consultancy projects within the health, retail or education sectors would be beneficial, as would enrolment on the APC and/or APM programme or equivalent.
