Job Description

The Head of MSME has overall responsibility for the MSME division and the operations. He carries the Profit & Loss (P&L) responsibility of the division and the Return responsibility of the investment portfolio. His/ her key purpose is to drive and deliver exceptional business performance to company and company Funds’, through the:

    Effective implementation of approved policies and procedures;

    Efficient management of daily business operations of investee accounts and portfolios

    Provision of leadership to increase returns and market dominance;

    Development of human resources                

The candidate oversees companies marketing and sales functions as well as the day-to-day investment and business development operations of the division. He/she is responsible for positioning and representing company and her portfolio accounts in the market, effective execution of brand and customer strategies together with leadership and local talent development. As the leader the manager creates a vision and an environment that inspires the local team to achieve outstanding business and investment results . An area of measurement is how the Manager embodies the company values and how he/she attracts and develops the talent and capabilities of his/her team. Another area of measurement if the manager’s ability to turn around failing portfolio accounts; devise strategies for growing portfolios; initiate strategies for sustainable growth and development of investee accounts.



    Generate funds, notes and liabilities for investment purposes in the company

    To oversee the performance of other portfolio managers under him/her

    Generate and expand pipeline of deals in line with the company’s focus and business initiatives

    The candidate will focus on creating structures and opportunities capable of attracting these groups into our business. The role is supposed to help the company to achieve its vision and mission encouraging and empowering entrepreneurship among our youths, undergraduates and young school leavers.

    Developing a strong pipeline of good quality investment opportunities in the infrastructure and natural resources sectors through anticipating market trends and employing   sector and country knowledge;

    Responsible for sourcing funding for specific projects

    Responsible for product development and fund designs suitable for the businesses of MSMEs.

    Leading negotiation/ documentation teams, using strong negotiation skills to develop solutions, overcome impasses and finalize negotiations in transactions;

    Leading and managing project teams;

    Coordinating closely with social, environmental and technical assistance colleagues in order to add value to our clients' businesses, finding pragmatic solutions to the specific sector challenges, to achieve sustainable development impact;

    Collaborating in developing sector and regional strategies and supporting related policy advisory work; and

    Other duties as required by management from time to time.


    University degree with a minimum of 2:2

    Master’s degree and other professional qualifications will be considered as ideal

    Must not be more than 38 years

    Having been a consultant will be an added advantage

    Industry knowledge and understanding will be most desired

    Strong financial and credit skills, demonstrated ability to structure a variety of financial instruments (Debt and equity);

    Business development and client relationship skills, track record and ability to focus on clients needs effectively;

    Ability to interact directly and independently with the senior management of potential clients, of financial and technical partners, as well as senior government officials;

    Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English etc

    Strong inter-personal and team working skills, ability to interact effectively with clients and colleagues from various cultural backgrounds;
