Job Description

To support our plan of investment in modernising our HR systems and processes for the Middle East business, we are seeking a Senior HR professional who can influence and lead change in a complex organisation working in a highly competitive market. This is a great opportunity to work for one of the world’s leading engineering design consultancies.
As a member of the senior business management teams in both the UAE and Oman, you will contribute to shaping the HR Strategy in those countries and as a key member of the regional HR team, you will contribute to the overall HR strategy and lead on a regional project as well as deliver to your combined business staff population of over 1,000.

The business is actively modernising the delivery of HR services and to strengthen the Regional Centres of Expertise in Reward, Resourcing and Learning and Development, as well as investing in our systems and technology to create a best in class administration and support function. You will play a critical Business Change Management role in affecting these changes.

Frequent and regular travel is required to ensure appropriate services are provided in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Oman.
This is a key role reporting functionally to the Regional HR Operations Director but working closely with the Managing Directors and the senior management teams in the UAE and Oman.

The post is based in the UAE and responsible for providing comprehensive HR services to your businesses as well as contributing to the Middle East region’s HR projects.

The role supports both the Atkins and Faithful + Gould businesses in each country.

The role reports functionally to the Regional HR Ops Director and directly to the Managing Directors in the UAE and Oman. As a key a member of the Middle East HR team and the UAE and Oman Senior Leadership Teams, the incumbent will have strategic, operational and project related responsibilities, ensuring that business critical issues are prioritised and managed as well as developing the Atkins brand as an Employer of Choice.


  • Provide comprehensive HR services to the businesses and engender a Middle East identity.
  • Drive the HR and People agenda for effective resource and business planning for both territories.
  • Influence for results as an active member of the UAE and Oman Senior Leadership Teams
  • Develop and implement a Learning and Development programme, including the delivery of innovative L&D solutions.
  • Travel regularly and frequently as needed to Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Oman to ensure HR service is delivered to meet business needs.
  • Work closely with business heads to convert plans to actions and deliver to meet needs
  • Actively engage with Line Managers and staff to influence behaviours and facilitate organisation change
  • Proactively manage employee relations issues to enhance the employer/employee relationship
  • Develop and manage HR budgets as appropriate
  • Manage and contribute to regional and Middle East HR projects as required.
  • Actively manage and coach the UAE and Oman HR team members

  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with key business stakeholders in order to understand business issues and priorities.
  • Develop effective working relationships with the UAE and Oman Finance Directors so as to understand the financial and commercial issues of the business.
  • Establish a reputation for being credible, reliable and for getting things done.
  • Develop effective working relationships with colleagues in central and regional HR functions as necessary including the International Mobility Team, Reward Consultants and L&D Consultants.
  • Develop effective working relationships with the Financial Controllers so as to understand the financial and commercial issues of the business
  • Benchmark with peer group HR professionals in the region to keep abreast with current practices.
  • Develop and manage relationships with supply chain partners as appropriate to gain maximum value from such relationships.

  • A Bachelors degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Advanced standing and Professional Membership of an appropriate HR Institution
  • Demonstrable progressive HR experience at senior level in a complex professional services environment
  • Proven experience and expertise in implementing HR Systems and processes.
  • Experience working in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Able to manage the complexity of delivering to meet business needs and doing so within Middle East HR Policy framework.
  • Experience in planning, managing and successfully delivering on a large change project involving numerous stakeholders.
  • Grounded commercial understanding of how the business works
  • Personal style and magnetism enabling influence when communicating, presenting and writing.
  • Independent and confident and able to challenge with credibility.
  • Discrete and trusted when offering advice.
  • Middle East experience will be beneficial as would successful experience working in a multi-cultural environment.
