Job Description

To be part of the Asset Engineering Support (AES) team, providing Instrument knowledge and expertise to the asset and the team.

The AES team is engaged in day to day close plant support of the operation, such as trouble shooting and optimisation. The AES team drives compliance with integrity processes and procedures to ensure safe, reliable and compliant operation.

Staff role - the position will be offered as an equal time / back to back rotation (2 week on / 2 week off rotation with a 7 day per week work ), or candidates can relocate to Shetland and this will be fully supported.

LEVELLING: Although this role is advertised at Level H, to be awarded position at Level H you will need to have already reached Chartered status, or close to completion. If purely degree qualified, likelyhood is an offer would be at level I.


Safety & Integrity:
Undertake auditing of asset in line with personal objectives (Safety Conversations, inhibits / overrides etc).

Support delivery of safety, integrity and environmental performance of asset.

Responsible for monitoring and reviewing compliance of instrument elements of the sites’ Control Of Major Accident Hazards (CoMAH) report.

Responsible for technical approval of operational procedures, deferrals, set point changes and operational risk assessments.

Responsible for monitoring technical implication of maintenance backlog.

Responsible for ensuring Controlled Documentation is up to date; including approval via engineering as appropriate.

Owner of specific risks in the Integrated Operations Risk Matrix.

Support site audits and HSE Inspections as asset discipline point of contact for data requests, clarifications and completion of HSE actions where appropriate.

Responsible for implementation of small scale modifications in compliance with Management of change procedures.

Provide technical review of larger modifications.

Assure compliance with good technical practices through site visits and audits.

Provide ad-hoc input to routine integrity management reviews by providing asset and discipline experience (Hazop, SIL, specific AL001 audits etc).

Support site competence assurance process (candidate screening, technical approval of assessment program, etc).

Participation in the Incident Management Team and associated exercises as required.

Production Optimisation:
Support in-year production delivery and optimisation activities.

Investigate and solve day-to-day and medium term plant problems in support of operations team.

Provide day-to-day discipline technical support to the operation and obtain additional functional specialist support where required.

Lead within scope (AES) discipline improvements in plant throughput – Carrying out root cause analysis and driving defect elimination through continuous improvement to meet the site performance contract.

Contribute to the development of the production improvement plan by identifying production improvement opportunities, lead implementation within scope (AES) and measure improvements.

Define Statement of requirements for improvements (mods, overhauls, studies, repairs) that cannot be resourced by the operation or within the AES team.

Complete unit work requests to transfer activity from AES team to the functional teams.

Planning & Work Execution:
Support and uphold the asset planning process; including review of work packs.

Interface with functional teams as they execute discipline activities in accordance with the assets needs.

Responsible for within scope (AES) technical approval of material & service requisitions (within discipline) in Maximo our maintenance Management system.

Provide technical support to TAR scope definition and execution.

SPA for agreed minor engineering changes / modifications.

Support the Reliability and Maintenance team in regards to equipment breakdown; including investigation of fault, defect resolution and execution of breakdown maintenance (including vendor liaison).

Support the Reliability and maintenance team in regards to implementation and review of planned maintenance routines.


Essential Education
Degree in an Engineering or Scientific discipline.

Preferably Chartered status.

Essential experience and job requirements
Solid technical experience within the offshore/onshore production field.

Experience in managing Measurement equipment , Fire & Gas control systems. Instrument control loops. Working Knowledge of Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS).

Desirable criteria & qualifications
Sufficient technical knowledge of process facilities equipment to make informed decisions. Able to recognise risks, hazards, losses and prevent conflicts between activities whilst driving defect elimination and continuous improvement.

Experience of Analyser systems.

Experience of fiscal measurement systems.

Experience of compressor anti surge systems (CCC).

Experience of DCS Hardware and software, such as Honeywell Experian, foundation fieldbus technologies.
