Ensure that costs are effectively controlled on work assigned to design / drafting personnel within assigned team.
Monitor design/drafting estimating norms within asset for Instrument .Develop and promote drafting and CAD initiatives to improve cost effectiveness of design / drafting work within Instrument discipline in consultation with Chief / HOD.
Ensure that the level of design work is appropriate for the complexity of the construction tasks, achieving a good balance between design costs and implementation costs.Work within budget constraints set by Lead Engineer.
Manage performance appraisals and competency development of assigned personnel within project in consultation with Chief / HOD.
Allocate design / drafting work to team members.Ensure that within assigned team, personnel work within their competencies and with appropriate supervision.
Estimate cost, time and resource requirements for design / drafting work in cooperation with Lead Engineer within team.
Manage design documentation and drawings.
Requirements Instrumentation Designer
8 years of design, AutoCAD and/or Microstation experience , in oil and gas industry.
Associate degree in Electrical Engineering orInstrumentation/ Control Systems Technology, or equivalent
Knowledge of hazardous area Instrument systems
Proficient in AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel
Thorough understanding and efficiency with standard design and drafting practices
Expertise in Instrument design practices for heavy industry
Experience with instrumentation, hazardous location wiring practices, panel design, and PLC hardware
Read, write and communicate using English language sufficient to perform job functions (other preferences will be given for special language skills where there is a business need)
