Job Description

The purpose of this role is in two folds:

  1. Assist the Group Head of IT to analyze, formulate and implement strategies
  2. Put in place a standard architecture and framework to enhance service delivery to the bank while maintaining world class standards.


Core responsibilities include:

  1. Develop and maintain IT strategy that is in alignment with the Bank’s corporate strategy
  2. Proactively analyze and make recommendation on the improvement and alignment of IT structure and processes in line with the Bank’s overall strategic focus
  3. Assist the Group Head of IT in preparing budget, monitoring budget utilization and implementing cost containment measures
  4. Ensure optimization of services delivered by IT in support of the Bank’s strategy
  5. Assist the Group Head of IT in defining, implementing and managing IT Policies and procedures, while maintaining compliance with existing policies and procedures
  6. Promote and oversee strategic relationships between internal IT resources and external entities.
  7. Supervise the Client Engagement Team that interacts with other departments in the bank, with the intent of improving profitability of the bank as well as efficient service delivery, by leveraging technology services and support
  8. Assist the Group Head of IT in metrics measurement and KPI appraisals of all teams in IT to reward top performance and improve the returns of low performers.


Aside the above core function, the job role is expected to actively participate in key initiatives, including, but not limited to the following:

  1. Implementation of Finacle Core Banking Application
  2. Architecting the technical design to support a robust Customer Relationship Management (CRM) solution
  3. Facilitate and coordinate implementation of CBN IT Standards
  4. Development of management dashboard to support the Bank’s Direct Marketing Department
  5. Support the selection and implementation of a Retail Lending Solution for the Bank
  6. Design the data architecture to support the application (S-MART) used by Relationship Managers. Also work closely with the vendor of S-MART to address identified issues
  7. Coordinate rollout of MoneyGram application – Phase 1 of the rollout process has been completed
  8. Plan, and coordinate remediation of all audit exceptions
  9. Develop a mechanism to support tracking of activities of IT Staff


Performance will be assessed largely by the following metrics:

  1. IT Production Change Management – success rate of changes applied to any service in production environment
  2. Documentation of IT processes
  3. Adherence to IT Quality Standards – rate of re-work
  4. % of approved strategic initiatives implemented
  5. Review of IT policies and procedures
  6. % Compliance with the Bank’s IT Policies & Procedures
  7. Expense/Budget control
  8. NPS (Net Promoter Score)


The preferred candidate should have at least 10 years of cognate experience and knowledgeable in the following areas:

  1. First Degree in a Physical or Numerate Science or Engineering
  2. ITIL Foundation
  3. Banking knowledge
  4. Management and Communication skills
