    Must be female

    Must have a degree in Law, masters and professional qualifications are an added advantage

    Must have a minimum of 5 years working experience in a law firm or Energy Company

    Must be familiar and have experience in Energy Laws, Commercial Transactions, Real Estate and Company Secretarial Matters


    Provide sound advice to the Executive Management and other key stakeholders on statutory, legislative and procedural matters relating to the businesses of the company;

    Perform statutory duties to ensure that the company and its operating entities comply with the requirements of the Companies’ and Allied Matters Act/Degree;

    Provide proactive legal services, including management and employee education and training;

    Maintain statutory registers for the company and submit annual returns, financial accounts and resolutions to the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC);

    Review processes and systems ensuring that appropriate measures are in place for compliance with all relevant legislation and legal requirements throughout the company;

    Manage and provide (where necessary) secretarial and administrative support to the Board of Directors, the Executive Management and other relevant committees (if any);

    Liaise with external company secretary (if any) to ensure all board meetings are properly convened, constituted, conducted and recorded;

    Ensure that all legal related decisions are communicated to the relevant parties and that actions are taken forward and implemented;

    Ensure that the Executive Management of the company possess the information and support they require to operate effectively;

    Act as a coordinator between the company and third party service providers to ensure the legal protection of the company;

    Interpret all contracts and legal documentation, in consultation with third-party legal service firms on behalf of the company and other relevant stakeholders;

    Advice the Executive Management in relation to disputes arising from contracts and agreements entered into by the company;

    Develop and regularly review procedures for the agreement of contracts and communicate these to all employees;

    Contribute to various team based activities and implement organisational priorities;

    Other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Executive Management team.


Key Performance Indicators

    Level of compliance with all matters relating to company affairs, legal affairs, drafting/vetting of agreements/documents;

    The extent to which internal customers receive all forms of legal counsel in a timely fashion;

    The extent to which planned/strategic results are attained by legal counsel;

    The level of alignment of all legal work to group’s corporate goals and objectives;

    Level of occurrence of risks associated with non-compliance with laws and regulations;

    Quality of legal briefs provided the Executive Management team on behalf of the company for decision making.

    Working knowledge, skills and competencies and attributes

    Skills and abilities to conduct comprehensive legal research on a range of issues;

    Discretion and sound judgement in applying legal expertise to sensitive, complex legal and administrative issues;

    Demonstrable experience within a company secretarial environment;

    Working knowledge of administrative experience in a general office;

    Solid experience of relationship building and people management skills;

    Experience of contracts reviews and proof reading skills;

    Excellent communication skills (written and verbal);

    Possess excellent problem solving and analytical skills;

    Clear demonstration to manage own workload and multi-task several projects;

    Demonstrate strong influencing and negotiations skills;

    Attention to details and good organisational skills.
