Job Description

Maintains appropriate service and repair records.

2. Researches, purchases and inventories equipment parts, chemicals and supplies. 3. Responds to routine and emergenc y calls for repairs and service. 4. May train and direct the work of other classified staff in the area. 5. Assists and serves as back up to other Facilities employees. 6. Trains and directs the work of ot her Classified staff in the area.


Under general supervision, perform master journey-level
work in the installation, maintenance, inspection,
modification, remodel and repair of mechanical plum
bing equipment and fixtures for water, gas, oil,
steam, sewage, fire sprinkler/prevent
ion, and refrigeration-related plum
bing systems; act as lead worker
to other classified staff in the area;
and perform related work as required.
Incumbents maintain, troubleshoot, and test plumbi
ng systems; assemble, install and repair pumps,
pipes, fittings, and fixtures; cut, thread and weld pi
pes; assemble and install valves, pipe fittings and
pipes; inspect completed work for conformance with
specifications, requirements and compliance with
applicable building and safety codes and regulations; in
spect related work performed by contractors;
estimate cost, time and materials for plumbing proj
ects; participate in the maintenance and operations of
a plumbing shop; clean, maintain and service tool
s and equipment used in the performance of duties.

1. Maintains, repairs and installs pl
umbing and related fixtures and components.
2. Repairs piping of various size and type.
3. Checks safety equipment and replaces component
s such as washers, gaskets, and filters.
4. Inspects, repairs, or replac
es pumps, valves and boiler systems, including swimming pool pumps.
5. Services and maintains air compressors.
6. Maintains and adjusts chemical
treatment controls for the pool.
7. Keep low pressure hot water heating boiler log
8. Inspects and tests fire sprinkler system and
booster pumps; prepares documentation for compliance.
9. Monitors and adjusts bu
ilding automation systems.
10. Monitors work done by outside contractor
s for adherence to Plumbing Code Requirements and
reports back to supervisor.
11. Assists in the writing
of specifications for repai
rs and new construction.


Minimum of OND, and trade test in the relevant are with three years experience.
