Job Description

Parsons Brinckerhoff is seeking a Manager - Contracts, responsible to project manage a package on a large scale new build project within the desired SHE, schedule, quality and cost requirements to achieve Eskom’s overall power capacity enhancement and investment plans on the Medupi Power Plant Project.

  • Be familiar will all contract documents 
  • Develop a basic plan for executing and controlling your area  
  • Provide supporting info as required  for development of project budget
  • Provide support to planning for preparation of project schedules within your area
  • Direct the preparation of the plan for organising, executing and controlling field construction activities within your area
  • Review plans and procedures periodically and comment if necessary
Integration of contractor’s activities within the project:
  • Direct the contractors’ integration to achieve upcoming activities, required contractor access and common resource utilisation
  • Co ordinate the design interface to ensure design information is available to contractors
  • Development of processes to assist with the evaluation of potential integration conflicts
  • Intervene and resolve disputes related to interface issues
  • Continually review package organisation and recommend changes
  • Direct work and resources required on the package to meet contractual obligations
  • Adhere to decision making system that is responsive to the package requirements
  • Foster and develop a team spirit among all project members
  • Assist in the resolution of differences or problems between packages
  • Anticipate and avoid or minimise potential problems by maintaining current knowledge of overall package status
  • Monitor package activities for compliance with organisation purpose, policies and procedures
  • Interpret, communicate, and demand compliance with the contract, the approved plan, project procedures, and directives of the client
  • Maintain control of adherence to contract warranty and guarantee provisions
  • Closely monitor project activities for conformity to contract scope provisions
  • Initiate change notices where necessary and communicate with relevant departments
  • Issue instructions for change where required
  • Monitor and control quality through the effective management of the appropriate project functions
  • Manage SHE on the project through the effective management of appropriate project functions
  • Effectively deal with contractual correspondence within the time allowed under the contract


Qualifications, Competencies and Experience: 
  • Diploma, BSc, Masters or equivalent with membership of relevant professional bodies
  • 8 plus years of related experience within the Civil industry. Heavy infrastructure projects advantageous
