Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking highly motivated individuals with excellent English communication skills, and highly developed leadership skills to ensure the effective management of our Nigeria Offices. The successful candidates will have previous Director/General Manager experience, and a minimum of 5 years local knowledge and experience, in Construction business.

Duties and Responsibilities:

* Plan, direct or co-ordinate the operational activities at the highest level of management with the help of subordinate executives and staff managers.

* Execute the responsibilities of the company director according to lawful and ethical standards

* Direct or coordinate the Company's financials or budget activities to fund operations, maximize profits and increase efficiency.

* Confer with board members, organization officials, or staff members to discuss issues, coordinate activities, or resolve problems.

* Analyze operations to evaluate performance of a company or its staff in meeting objectives or to determine areas of potential cost reduction, program improvement, or policy change.

* Direct, plan, or implement policies, objectives, or activities of organizations or businesses to ensure continuing operations, to maximize returns on investments, or to increase productivity.

* Prepare budgets for approval from the Board including those for funding or implementation of programs.

* Direct or coordinate activities of businesses or departments concerned with production, pricing, sales, or distribution of products.

* Negotiate or approve contracts or agreements with suppliers, distributors, or other organizational entities.

* Review reports submitted by staff members to recommend approval or to suggest changes.

* Appoint department heads or managers and assign or delegate responsibilities to them.

* Direct human resources activities, including the approval of human resource plans or activities, the selection of high-level staff, or establishment or organization of major departments.

* Comply with all legal requirements in terms of the Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental legislation.

* Direct the company’s planning activities and provide leadership and overall guidance in both the administration and operation of the company.

* Manage the promotion, development and extension of the business of the Company and protect the reputation and interests of the Company.

* Identify the long range objectives of the Company and recommend their adoption to the Board.

* Prepare plans and programs for the attainment of approved objectives and oversee their implementation

* Oversee the development and implementation of all activities of the Company including marketing, financial control, personnel and industrial relations, audit and procurement.

* Direct the preparation of operational matters.

* Develop and manage the implementation of group policy regarding work environment, administration, accounting, purchasing, reporting and human resources

* Maintain knowledge of all competition.

* Attend and participate in various industry associations

Skills and Abiliities:

* Excellent communication and negotiation skills.

* Strong business and commercial acumen.

* Demonstrated ability in leading and managing teams.

* Strong computer literacy skills.

* Strong financial control knowledge.

* Ability to prepare budgets, analyze financial statements, and understand accounting issues as they relate to property operations and reporting requirements.

* Demonstrated sales and negiotiation ability.

Education and Experience:


* Relevant tertiary and industry qualifications.

* A Postgraduate/Masters Degree (This can be waived for Applicants with over 18 years of experience of which 8 years is in a similar position)

* Previous experience in a high level role, i.e. Managing Director or General Manager

* A high level of written and oral communication skills.

* Proven experience in leading and managing teams.

* Minimum 5 years of local experience in Construction business.
