The Graduate student will become a member of the AMT-UK team performing work from the full spectrum of the team’s activity working with all, of our customers. This will ultimately include failure investigation, non-destructive testing and material characterisation. The main skills that will be used are mechanical testing, hardness testing, metallographic preparation, optical microscopy, SEM/EDX and various forensic analysis techniques. This is a valuable opportunity to apply the techniques that you may only have discussed theoretically or had demonstrated at university.
Graduates are expected to make an active contribution to the team, hence the ability to self motivate and to work on your own initiative are essential. A successful candidate will need to have good interpersonal and communication skills, being able to interpret and convey information to non-materials specialists both verbally and in formal reports. Strong analytical skills are desirable, but practical aptitude is the most important characteristic.
