Job Description

•Direct and monitor each department’s progress on shutdown activity preparation and planning. Mentor national staff to develop leadership skills and experience with coordinating SD activities.

•Develop rotating equipment monitoring and maintenance strategies and work programs. Mentor national staff to develop technical and leadership skills, experience and confidence with following RCM rotating equipment programs.
•Provides mechanical engineering support to set up effective RCM with appropriate condition monitoring. Identify opportunities for modifications to improve the design or installations of equipment for improved uptime

•Provides mechanical engineering expertise and mentoring to the maintenance and operations teams

•Establish and optimize critical sparing requirements and monitor spare parts inventory levels to insure uptime

•Monitors performance of major rotating equipment, reports on performance, compares with expected norms and makes recommendations for improvement

•Assists in planning major plant overhauls and setting the overall strategy to capitalize on all SD opportunities

•Recommends operating and maintenance procedure changes to improve equipment uptime

•Reviews data collected from process equipment to optimise operations. Recommends changes to data collection. Establish an effective maintenance reporting system to assist with trouble shooting and long term asset management.

•Audits maintenance work orders to ensure recommended work practices are being used and improved upon. Conduct post job reviews to continuously improve future maintenance activities.

•Support to Plant Operations to troubleshoot operating problems

•Communicate areas of improvement and innovation to line management where appropriate. Support development of a continuous improvement culture. 


•Degree or equivalent in Engineering (preferably Mechanical) or related discipline 
•Minimum 10 year experience preferably in oil and gas industry upstream operations.
•Must have considerable experience with large rotating machinery. 
•Ability to analyse problems and provide alternative solutions.
•Reliability Centered Maintenance background driving shutdown planning/programming for rotating equipment. Familiarity with MS projects minimum / Primavera P3 would be an advantage.
•Candidate should have proven experience in the design, operation or maintenance of turbo machinery, & rotating equipment – reciprocating and centrifugal – as well as Gas Turbines (Frame 5’s in particular would be an asset).
•French an advantage 
•Arabic beneficial, but not required.
•Professional and/or Chartered Engineering designation useful
•Ability to work in a culturally diverse, remote and challenging environment. 
•Compression performance management systems.
•Performance optimisation throughout asset life
•Understanding of vibration and lube oil analysis and other condition monitoring
•Pumping systems.
•Project management and coordination skills to effectively work with other
disciplines and workers
•Good root cause troubleshooting skills.
