General supervision of all activities going on in pharmacy department.
Compound and dispense medications as prescribed by doctors and dentists, by calculating, weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients, or oversee these activities
Provide information to patients about medications and their use
Advise physicians and other health practitioners on the selection, dosage, interactions, and side effects of medications.
Supervision of the pharmacy staff to see they carry out their duties properly.
Supervision of the daily recording exercise of drugs dispensed and the patients to whom they were given.
Managing a regular budget on drugs and surgical items required for smooth running of the institution and getting approval for them.
Procurement of the approved drugs from certified suppliers, checking the supplied drugs to see they are in good condition (i.e. NAFDAC registered, far expiry dates).
Maintain records, such as pharmacy files, patient profiles, charge system files, inventories, control records for radioactive nuclei, and registries of poisons, narcotics, and controlled drugs.
Checking and ensuring drugs are used well before expiry dates.
Representing the pharmacy department at management meetings.
Qualification ans Requirements:
Minimum of B.Pharm.
Must be registered with Pharmacist’ Council of Nigeria,
Must have 3-5 years experience in a similar role.
Must possess leadership and team development skills.
Must have excellent planning and organisational skills.
Should have good people management and communication skills.
Should be detailed-oriented.
Previous experience in hospital or community pharmacy practice is an advantage.
