The American University of Nigeria, Yola, is seeking for Physics Laboratory Technologist. This position is a local one open to indigenous and/or legal residents of Nigeria.
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Physics laboratory technologist is saddled with the responsibility of setting-up and supporting laboratory experiments for algebra and calculus-based introductory physics courses and also handles flammable, dangerous chemicals, expensive and sensitive items of equipment that represent a major investment by the University and provide a significant risk factor for the University.
• A degree in Physics, with not less than 3.3 Cumulative Grade Point Average on a 5 point level and 2.5 CGPA on a 4 point level.
• At least 3 years’ experience and skills in science laboratory work.
• Additional professional laboratory certification and experience is an added advantage.
•Good working knowledge of chemicals and supplies in the science area.
•Excellent knowledge of safety and emergency procedures in science labs.
•Ability to organize work effectively and deal calmly and patiently with faculty members and students in the face of time pressures.
•Excellent attention to details.
Other requirements, abilities for the position:
•Experience working in a university setting with faculty, students, and staff.
•Excellent written and oral English skills.
•Experience using relevant computer software applications preferred
