General Description includes complex mechanical engineering design, analysis and development of an assigned scope of work in a CB&I project and/or specific complex deliverables such as pressure vessels, heat transfer equipment, rotating equipment and piping engineering. Work includes, among other things, conceptual studies, cost and planning studies, layouts, design calculations, specification development and supervising vendor packages for equipment and mechanical systems. Is able to effectively communicate complex technical solutions and concepts to other engineers and non-engineers. Assists with training other engineers by providing instruction on new technologies and/or a specialization. Supports the development of new technologies and methods. Is the highest level Engineer position and is looked to for technical expertise. Maintains and promotes a focus on CB&I’s end product whether engineering, fabrication or construction. Ensures effective communications among other engineering disciplines. Ensures effective management of change. Assumes responsibility for cost, schedule, quantity and budget control.
· Accredited engineering degree as may be required by specific regions.
· Prefer BSME degree and P.E. certificate of registration.
· Has strong proven mechanical engineering experience:
· Is familiar with codes and standards of ASME, API and ANSI.
· Is current on new scientific engineering methods and possesses a broad technical knowledge of the detail design engineering process.
· Is capable of appropriate use of computer applications and other specialized engineering tools.
To provide support to the Lead Mechanical Engineer in respect of Rotating Equipment Engineering Work as part of the Project Team for both offshore and onshore applications.
To act as Lead Engineer on Projects as assigned, coordinating the activities of Engineers working on all types of rotating mechanical and fabricated equipment for onshore and offshore installations.
To be committed to HS&E goals and take appropriate action to achieve project HS&E goals and performance objectives on all mechanical equipment.
Responsible for the specifications, requisitions, technical bid analysis and vendor data review of all Rotating equipment, appropriately measuring against compliance standards set by industry, work specification and client.
To work with other disciplines in the company to ensure all interfaces with other parts of the plant are fully engineered. To provide technical guidance and support as required on all stages of the project through detailed design, construction, commissioning and testing.
Provide support to Inspection and expediting personnel for above equipment types through to equipment delivery and final documentation, rectifying or clearing any compliance issues arising.
To assist the Chief Mechanical Engineer in producing man hour and cost estimates in support of bids.
Adhere to Company Management System (CMS) guidelines where relevant to work activity and other rules and standards set by the Company in support of any industry norms and standards.
To implement improvements directed towards showing profitable operation, growth of business and the enhancement of the teams competence and performance.
To provide technical leadership and guidance to a qualified team of engineers.
Chartered or Incorporated Engineer Status
Up to date working knowledge of British and American design codes and standards
