Job Description

The role of the Transition Lead is to ensure that expected deployment issues have contingencies and mitigations in place, and that there is sufficient capacity and time built into the deployment plan to resolve unexpected issues without putting the business at risk.

The Transition Lead is responsible for managing all transition products built into the deployment model. Specifically these cover:

  • Post Go Live Ramp Up Planning and steps required to engineer this.
  • Cutover Planning
  • Contingency Planning
  • External Partner Management
  • Go / No Go decision controls
  • Go Live Command Centre set-up and processes
  • Hand-over to business as usual functions


  • Excellent and proven Project Management skills (PRINCE2)
  • Excellent and proven team leadership skills
  • Excellent and proven project risk assessment and management
  • Proven contingency planning experience
  • Experience of leading large-scale business transformation programmes
  • Experience of leading large-scale SAP implementations
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills – ability to communicate at all levels
  • Ability to influence and lead people who may be resistant to the requirements of good transition management
  • Must understand impact on people, process and existing systems of transition management activities
