Job Description

Responsible to the project manager for the successful execution and delivery of technical work by the engineering disciplines / relevant subcontractors, ensuring project changes are communicated and implemented effectively. Resolves any engineering issues which have the potential to impede the achievement of project objectives. 


  • Understand contractual requirements and communicate to the Engineering Team
  • Coordinate efforts of the design team
  • Focal point for technical issues/coordination between CB&I, Supplier, Fabrication, Construction and Client
  • Address and resolve scope cost changes and schedule impact issues with the Project Manager
  • Communicate scope and design changes to the Project Team
  • Ensure achievement of safety, quality, schedule and cost objectives
  • Actively support constructability program and communicate constructability issues to discipline engineers
  • Support the operability and maintainability programs
  • Coordinate development of construction subcontract scope packages
  • Address Engineering personnel performance issues
  • Arrange and lead Project Engineering critique at project closure
  • Schedule and  coordinate design and safety reviews
  • Ensure Document Management supports the projects needs
  • Development and coordination of Engineering subcontracts
  • Development of the Engineering execution plan
  • Monitor quantity forecasting and trending
  • Development and management of the detailed engineering schedule
  • Development and management of the engineering staffing plan
  • Communicate staffing needs to functional management.
  • Management of the engineering schedule and budget reporting to the Project Manager
  • Coordinate Equipment List
  • Development and management of the Technical Query and Deviation Request Processes
  • Expedite the flow of technical information
  • Maintain the engineering action items list
  • Management / resolution of the Design Change program
  • Coordinate requisitions
  • Facilitate communication between discipline leaders
  • Actively manage the engineering work hour budget
  • Support the subcontract plan
  • Manage engineering lessons learned program through project duration
  • Assist with project closeout and turnover of deliverables to Client





  Substantial experience in at least one engineering discipline

  Experience of FEED / engineering design

  Experience of supervising and facilitating the work of others in an engineering context

  Experience of large complex engineering project environments

  Experience of working under pressure to tight deadlines

  Experience of working in a task force environment

 Diverse and substantive experience as a project engineer

  Proven experience as a Project Engineering Manager in an engineering project environment



  Experience as a lead engineer on a project

  Experience as a discipline engineer within oil and gas

  Experience with site engineering / in the field

  Experience of commissioning

  Experience in commercial development

  Experience of a wide variety of engineering disciplines

  Experience in fabrication

 LNG Liquefaction design experience

  Offshore design experience

  Experience of technical subcontracts management


Special Skills  & Knowledge



 Understanding of and ability to analyse client engineering contracts

  Holistic understanding of the range of engineering disciplines and their synergy within large complex engineering projects

  Understanding of project schedules and tools, and manpower planning

 Understanding of and ability to interpret technical documentation across all disciplines, including P&IDs, Isometrics, and layouts

 Understanding of national and international engineering standards

 Process knowledge – ability to understand plant processes and how unit processes interact

  Ability to translate design ideas into practical project outcomes

  Computer literate – word, IT etc

  Good understanding of the commercial elements of project execution, subcontracts, and how changes have a commercial impact

 Understanding of change controls

 Understanding of materials requisitioning & compilation, and of the interfaces with procurement



 Ability to analyse client engineering contracts

  Understanding of overall oil & gas plant layout and process, and of how the broad range of oil and gas technical disciplines interact

  Ability to review PDMS

  Experience with the SmartPlant suite

  Russian experience
