Job Description

o  Coordinate activities of the Programme in Benue State by supporting the implementation of CLTS activities by field partners and liaising with all relevant stakeholders, especially the State RUWASSA and State Task Groups on Sanitation, to ensure that the Programme is being effectively implemented

o Contribute to regular meetings with key stakeholders at the State & Local Government level to present programme progress and to communicate learning and best practice on CLTS and sustaining ODF.

o Work closely and support programme field staff based in the target LGAs, as well as staff of the LGA & State, towards identification of capacity building needs with the aim of building a pool of trained personnel in CLTS triggering, hygiene promotion, technology support, and monitoring & evaluation.

o Support the Programme Manager in the formulation of strategies, plans and budgets to achieve an LGAwide Open Defecation Free (ODF) status in the targeted LGAs in the state.

o Conduct field visits to LGAs and Communities to monitor progress and quality of implementation of activities by partners against agreed plans, targets and report accordingly base on agreed format.

o Provide weekly and monthly reports as per approved format, summarising progress made in implementation of activities, lessons learnt and recommendations for improvements.

o Support programme activity in any other LGA as may be directed by the Programme Manager


Required Desirable BSc/BA in relevant field (Public Health, International Development, Social Sciences, Engineering) Relevant post-graduate qualification At least 5 years relevant experience in successfully managing development projects, including grant management and reporting Excellent facilitation, communication and report writing skills Knowledge and experience in Water, Sanitation & Hygiene programming Knowledge and experience of CommunityLed Total Sanitation Proven track record of capacity building/training for stakeholders including community level and local institutions Proficient skills in the use of MS Office tools
