Job Description

As a Functional Data Analyst (FDA) you will provide accurate, detailed data analytics to support the requirements of programmes and projects. Additionally as a FDA it is essential that you ensure that the data, the processes and standards that govern the data are fit for purpose and the data is used in the defined way in order to maximise data as a strategic BAT asset.


  • Review Process Definition Document (PDD) and ensure that all supporting Key Data Elements (KDEs) have been identified. The suite of KDEs will have to be those necessary and sufficient to support the process described in the PDD.
  • Analyse associated KDEs and associated Business Data Requirements (BDRs).
  • Prepare Conversion Load Templates (CLTs) for the data that needs to be loaded from external (e.g. non SAP) sources.
  • In conjunction with the Quality Analysts, make any required updates to the Data Quality Inventory (DQI).
  • Maintain the Data Migration Inventory (DMI) as required.
  • Use the Information Analyser Data Quality Tool in conjunction with the DQI in order to prepare Data Quality Action Plan (DQAP).
  • Contribute to the ongoing maintenance of the DQAP.
  • Create and maintain the related elements in the Regional Data Migration Plan.
  • Use FastTrack to complete Source to target mappings
  • Assess related components within the global data validation specification.
  • Support the global and local teams during the collect data, plan trial load data, execute trial data load and sign off data load steps within the realisation, final preparation, go live and support phases.
  • Requirements

    • Excellent data and statistical analysis skills, with strong problem solving skills
    • Strong hands on SAP knowledge and experience
    • Ability to analyse and interpret complex data sets, within and/or across functional areas
    • Must have previous experience in a Data Analyst role
    • Ability to learn about and use new tools quickly
    • Effective communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex messages simply to key stakeholders
    • Strong document writing skills
    • Good prioritisation and time management skills to meet delivery deadlines in a multi-task environment
    • Ability to take responsibility for given deliverables and work with minimum supervision
