The role will involve working with a variety of clients in a number of different industries, within an internal audit and external audit capacity, as well as working with other EY teams in our Assurance business. As an ambassador for the Risk Analytics, you will need to build a strong network internally and be able to exceed our clients’ high expectations.
The primary responsibility of the Risk Analytics – Audit Analyst consultant is to plan and deliver on Risk engagements by bringing knowledge and experience of how data analysis can enhance the audit and being able to execute on the analytical tests. Depending upon the size and complexity of the engagement, candidates may lead a small team or carry sole responsibility for delivery. A majority of the typical engagements you would be assigned to require audit and accounting knowledge, knowledge of ERP systems, controls and processes and being able to make use of data analysis tools. A solid understanding of data manipulation for reporting is required and candidates would be expected to be familiar with the concepts of a data model (e.g. entities, attributes) and associated tools; SQL, Reporting/analysis tools (e.g. Microsoft SSRS, Business Objects, Excel, Tableau, Spotfire etc). Having audit experience (and a qualification is preferable) and being proficient in financial analysis is a firm requirement. Knowledge and experience of auditing ERP financial processes and controls is extremely beneficial.
Although robust internal and external audit methodologies underpin the delivery and execution of the engagements you will be involved in, clients and audit teams each face their own specific business problems, so a key component of the role is the interaction with client representatives (often at a senior level) to fully understand the business context and audit requirements, before determining the right approach to the work.
Engaging with internal audit / external audit teams to scope and plan work
Translating process risk and controls issues into analytical tests
Design and development of analytic test to address the audit related risks
Extraction, transformation/enrichment and loading of data in preparation for reporting and analysis (SQL and Mircosoft SSIS are the most likely toolset)
Implementation of tests in Reporting tools (Microsoft Excel, SSRS and Tableau are the most likely tools)
Where relevant, enhance existing analytical tests to reflect a client’s process and control environment
Assist internal audit / external audit teams to interpret results and understand audit issues identified
Assist with the discussion and follow up of results with our clients
Assist in preparing audit reports that summarise the results of our audit work
Ensuring compliance with our EY audit methodologies and EY quality and risk management requirements
Reporting status and deliverables to engagement managers regularly and proactively
Monitoring engagement risks (e.g. delays) and highlight the issues appropriately as they arise
Mentoring and up-skilling junior team members and acting as a positive role model
In addition, the team itself places a significant emphasis on its own management and development, including learning and development, knowledge sharing, current technologies, methodologies and the ongoing expansion of the team. All team members are expected to contribute to this process and participating fully in the team activities, meetings and workshops.
Finally, consultants are also expected to contribute to the development and internal marketing, and gain an understanding of the business development process.

Relevant degree/qualifications from a leading university preferred.
Two to three years experience in performing internal or external audit engagements and being involved of the delivery of data analytics on those projects. This includes, designing analytical audit tests, performing data extraction, cleansing, analysis and reporting. You will also be able to understand how to interpret the results of analytical test.
Currently working in either one of the large audit firms or in internal audit at a large global organization
No requirement for sector specialisation but strong insight into one or more of the following would be an advantage: Consumer Products, Technology, Media and Telecommunications, Pharma or Power and Utilities
Strong audit and accounting knowledge
Strong information analysis skills (ie putting analysis in a business context and consulting with internal stakeholders)
Data analysis and manipulations skills (SQL, Report writing)
Microsoft Office (intermediate Skill level)

Understanding of business processes, risks and controls
