Job Description

As part of Accenture’s Risk Management practice, candidates for Risk Model Consultant position must have a good understanding of the challenges within Banking. Candidates must also be able to apply their experience within a consulting environment. 

At consultant grade candidates will be required to work within project teams at client sites and take ownership of packages of work with minimal supervision. Candidates should have experience of leading teams, business analysis and be able to structure the work of other. Successful candidates are expected to have had proven experience in working in a delivery or change environment and have an appreciation of the challenges to deliver Risk Management or Treasury (in Financial Services) related projects. 

Responsibilities

  • Work as part of a team on complex risk change projects within financial services whilst helping to shape the work of junior analysts.
  • Demonstrate credibility with clients in the context of Risk Management, Capital Management and Risk Modelling with the ability to represent Accenture’s capability in addressing industry challenges in these areas.
  • Work in a client facing environment in delivering change through executing activities such as requirements definition, gap analysis and working with clients to design and deliver solutions. 

Consulting Responsibilities

 As a Consultant within the Accenture Risk Management team, candidates will primarily be responsible for delivering high performance solutions to Accenture’s clients with minimal supervision from line managers. 

Typically, candidates will be expected to be flexible in terms of travel arrangements with a significant amount of client facing time. The 4 key areas of responsibilities that candidates must be able to meet are detailed below.

 1. Delivery Within Financial Services Change Projects

  • Ability to demonstrate an understanding of the complete project lifecycle and be able to provide evidence of leading one or more significant stages within a complex change project. Candidates will be required to articulate the shaping, delivery and reporting of complex pieces of work that they have managed.
  • Proven ability to distil key facts from multiple sources where there is either too much or too little information and appropriately convey a structured approach for a team to deliver towards.
  • Ability synthesise appropriate ideas and actions to move forwards and demonstrate the skills of communicating this in a succinct, clear and structured manner.
  • Working with a team to define a business solution that may include defining business architecture, process design and delivery activities whilst driving the development of improved capabilities.
  • Executing business analyst activities such as “gap analysis” with clients in order to articulate areas for improvement within their business and to highlight opportunities within their business.
  • Facilitating of team and client focus groups and workshops across multiple phases of the project delivery lifecycle.
  • Working within multidisciplinary teams across both business and technology to execute project deliverables to schedule and performance goals.
  • Have a proven track record of working within complex banking change initiatives by leading workstreams and owning specific project deliverables. Candidates must be able to demonstrate shaping their deliverables and clear ownership and accountability for delivery.
  • Be able to demonstrate credibility to work alongside/with client SME’s and team leaders.
  • Developing trusted relationships with clients, target clients and internal experts as part of project delivery.
  • Understanding and representing of Accenture’s Risk Management proposition with clients and acting as a trusted partner.
  • Helping to build an understanding of our clients’ business and challenges and participating in identifying solutions for their business needs within the Accenture Risk Management team.
  • Working with mixed client and Accenture project teams and helping to establish working relationship within a team environment.
  • Able to demonstrate the key skills required in identifying challenges within a business and working with clients in articulating them through clear written or verbal communication.
  • Ability to facilitate discussions, analysis processes, de-construction problems, prioritise issues and categorise challenges within a client project environment

 

2. Working Alongside Clients and Building Relationships

 

  • Be able to demonstrate credibility to work alongside/with client SME’s and team leaders.
  • Developing trusted relationships with clients, target clients and internal experts as part of project delivery.
  • Understanding and representing of Accenture’s Risk Management proposition with clients and acting as a trusted partner.
  • Helping to build an understanding of our clients’ business and challenges and participating in identifying solutions for their business needs within the Accenture Risk Management team.
  • Working with mixed client and Accenture project teams and helping to establish working relationship within a team environment.
  • Able to demonstrate the key skills required in identifying challenges within a business and working with clients in articulating them through clear written or verbal communication.

3. Supporting Creation and Shaping of Sales Opportunities 

  • Supporting the Accenture executives in the development of business opportunities that are aligned with client agendas and creating value driven sales propositions for Accenture’s key clients.
  • Helping to develop compelling business cases and responses to new business opportunities and requests for proposals within proposal response teams.
  • Participating in opportunity development campaigns that build upon Accenture’s management consultancy and delivery capabilities as part of the Risk Management team.

 

4. Building Part of Accenture’s Risk Management Capability


  • Supporting the creation of “Thought Leadership” assets and participating in Communities of Practice within Accenture as part of specialist teams that meet specific client challenges.
  • Support the building of Accenture’s Risk Management department through people development and mentoring of more junior team members.
  • Helping to build Accenture assets and accelerators that can be used to enhance Accenture’s Risk Management market offerings.
  • Helping to deliver on Accenture’s Risk Management delivery capability in the key areas of: Strategy and Governance, Process Excellence and Integration, Regulatory Reform and Performance Insight and Execution.

 


     

Requirements

Core Skills 

Candidates will be required to have:

  • 3-5 Years proven experience within financial services.
  • Experience in Model Lifecycle Management
  • Stress Testing/Back Testing
  • Data Management and understanding of data required for Risk models.
  • Understand of existing and new exposure risk models (Basic steps and functionality)
  • Be aware of different modelling approaches (e.g. Historic/Non Historic/Monte Carlo)
  • Aggregation Types/Methods
  • Experience of using mathematical modelling tools (e.g SAS/SPSS etc)
  • Modelling skills but not looking to build and test models fulltime
  • Mathematical/Engineering based degree or above
  • CFA/FRM qualifications is preferable but not required
