As Senior Commissioning Editor, you will drive editorial policy in the subject area; you will research, identify, evaluate and target new journals to add to the list; you will work closely with senior colleagues to lead the acquisition and retention teams for new and existing titles.
Outstanding communication skills will be paramount in forging strong and enduring relationships both inside and outside the Press. You will be able to deliver and promote high standards of relationship management between Cambridge, journals’ editors and editorial boards, proprietors, subscribers and other clients; you will keep up to date with developments within the industry to ensure systems and procedures are current, competitive and efficient; you will provide a high level of editorial and financial management for an important list of proprietor and Cambridge-owned titles.
You will be educated to at least degree level preferably in the social sciences, although graduates of other disciplines are welcome to apply and will be given full consideration. Ideally, you will have at least extensive experience in commissioning journals.
We seek an excellent team player with first rate communication and presentation skills who is confident at negotiating new business and managing learned society relationships, and who has strong commercial acumen and is comfortable handling financial data.
You will be expected to travel to support the management and development of the list and to develop a close working relationship with the Journals colleagues in Cambridge, New York and Asia.
