Job Description

Getting value for money from contracts and spend with third parties is an ongoing challenge for most organisations. This is increasingly true in today’s economic environment where reducing costs and conserving cash are priorities. 

At Ernst & Young, our Risk Advisory team is building a strong capital programme team focusing on working with organizations undertaking large capital programmes. The work involves supporting clients in capital programme/project assessment, improvement and monitoring. In particular we are working with a range of clients to drive value for our clients from their contracts including achieving savings and recovering cost. 

Recent success in the market place and great potential for further growth means that we are currently looking to recruit a business advisors at a Senior Consultant/Assistant Manager level to work directly on one of our prominent client sites in Abu Dhabi.

► Work closely with one of our prominent Defense and Security clients in Abu Dhabi on a two year engagement (potential to extend.) 
► Work effectively as a team member, sharing responsibility, providing support, maintaining communication, and updating senior team members on progress 
► Help prepare reports and schedules that will be delivered to clients and other parties 
► Develop and maintain productive working relationships with client personnel 
► Build strong internal relationships within Ernst & Young Advisory Services and with other services across the organization 

People responsibilities

► Conduct performance reviews and contribute to performance feedback for staff 
► Contribute to people-related initiatives including recruiting and retaining Customer professionals 
► Maintain an educational program to continually develop personal skills of staff 
► Understand and follow workplace policies and procedures


Technical skills requirements 

We are interested in candidates with a proven track record in any of the following: 

► Significant involvement in reviewing commercial contracts 

► Experience working closely service providers, ensuring appropriate service delivery based on the contract terms and conditions 

► The candidate needs to attend meeting with the contractors and to address different type of issues and prepare the minutes of meetings either in Arabic or English. 

► Ability to draft contracts and amendments to the contracts. 

► Manage correspondence with the contractors and draft letters either in Arabic or English. 

► Translate contracts clauses, correspondence and discuss it with our client management. 

► Provide support to our client in preparing the contracts hardcopy files. 

► Review and arrange the existing contracts hardcopy files. 

► Ability to work and archive our client contracts through electronic copies. 

► Providing advice and guidance on commercial contracts, highlighting concern areas 

► Prior experience in translating technical documents from Arabic to English 

► Four plus years post qualification professional experience, including a preference for international experience 

► Proven report writing, verbal and written communication and presentation skills including the ability to communicate complex issues in a simple and straightforward manner 

► Financially numerate, good analytical and problem solving skills 

► Strong interpersonal skills including evidence of both strong team working and managing skills 

► Proven ability to provide support on several projects concurrently including ensuring client deadlines are met 

► Track record in supporting the sales process required for new and existing clients 

► Strong facilitation and influencing skills 

► Comfortable and experienced in managing ambiguity and operating in a self directed manner 

► Good knowledge of the wider business environment and a strong commercial grounding 

► Self starter, strong sense of initiative 

► Good organisational skills 

► Law degree from a leading institution including higher degree (MSc, MBA, MA, MPhil , Phd .) 

► Relevant Professional qualification 

► Arabic language skills are required 

Kindly note the ability to work from 7am to 2pm Sunday to Thursday is essential, although our EY policy is to work 45 hours week (8 am to 6pm). 

It is important that candidates can demonstrate an understanding of the financial and commercial aspects of major projects and programmes to include disciplines such as budgeting, business case 

and feasibility, procurement, financial cost reporting, reward mechanisms, change control processes and risk management. 

This should also include a strong understanding of key contractual principles used in maintenance, and support services development contracts, notably the FIDIC standard contract forms. Preferably this will also include experience of issues associated with contractual disputes and claims. 

Experience of undertaking contract reviews including audit processes to sample and test key risk areas is critical including identifying cost reduction/saving opportunities. 

The ability to deliver tangible business results whilst at the same time, nurturing and building client relationships for the longer term is essential. You will ideally already have been operating in an advisory capacity for another blue chip professional services firm, or as a project team member within industry and are now seeking a broader platform from which to grow and develop your talents.
