Job Description

The position of Decision Analyst Team Lead reports to the Planning & Commercial Manager, Chevron Upstream Europe (CUE). This position covers a mixed portfolio of operated and non-operated licenses, different partner groupings, the full range of asset maturities, and a range of asset types from small subsea tie-back developments to large projects in the West of Shetlands basin. Candidates must have strong analytical skills, along with a broad understanding of the technical and financial aspects of these projects. This position is responsible for the effective management, development and mentoring of three analysts embedded among different teams where strong personal interface skills are required to ensure the most effective application of decision analysis (DA) as well as providing hands on consulting services as required. 


  • Opportunity framing and assessment, probabilistic economic modelling, evaluation and analysis
  • Value of Information (VOI) studies, preparation of Authorization For Expenditure documents (AFE) and assistance with reserves accounting
  • Mentoring of less experienced staff
  • Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Earth Sciences, Economics, Finance, or equivalent
  • Extensive Economics and DA experience:
    oPractical training and experience in DA facilitation and application, economic modelling and analysis
    oProven track record of completing complex, fit-for-purpose DA studies in a timely manner
    oDA experience with sufficient experience in modelling Major Capital Projects gained in period of 4+ years
  • Technical experience
    oExtensive upstream oil and gas industry experience
    oBroad experience in earth-science or petroleum engineering
    oCan effectively interact with related disciplines; subsurface, well construction, facilities engineering, operations, strategy & planning, finance, and commercial
  • Communication skills
    oCommunicates effectively within and outside the company, in both written and oral communication
    oCommunicates business cases for recommendations in a manner that provides clarity to decision-makers
    oDemonstrated ability to work as member of a diverse and dispersed team
    oAbility to network with DA thought leaders outside the Business Unit and the ability to embrace new ideas/methods
