Job Description

 Carry out sub-surface reservoir analytical and simulation studies within the Kenya / Ethiopia BU’s: modelling, design and interpretation of well tests, etc.; all RE technical work program elements

Appraisal program data gathering and analysis including running of 3rd party studies/lab measurement/data gathering.

Conceptual development planning work for discoveries

 Provide day to day reservoir engineering support to the Kenya-Ethiopia BU, covering reserves bookings, profile forecasts, exploration prospect valuation, etc. 

Participate in data acquisition strategy definition and program execution for operated and non-operated assets.

Present results internally and externally to partners and government agencies.

 Occasional well site supervision of testing or other subsurface activities

In joining company also be a member of the wider petroleum-reservoir engineering community and be involved in peer review opportunities in other assets.



 Participate in RE development work on projects in the Business Unit, identifying the optimum future appraisal and development plans and assessing the associated range of uncertainty; advising on well counts, types and facility sizes.

Contribute to developing & maintaining reserves and contingent and prospective resource estimates for the Kenya BU assets.

Participate in prospect evaluation in support of Exploration and New Ventures activity, preparing profiles and outline development plans.

Assist in defining data acquisition strategy, and then in executing that strategy, for existing and future discoveries.

 Monitoring of operational results, and providing input to planning/execution of same. Occasional on site supervision.

 Building and interpreting databases and messages from reservoir data and performance to advise management on value optimization.

 Monitor clients non-operated assets and acreage, and proactively identify opportunities to enhance their value to client.

 Mentoring of less senior staff 


Strong analytic and simulation reservoir engineering skills.

 Ability to temper software output with engineering judgement.

Competent user of ECLIPSE, Petrel, PETEX, Kappa, PVTsim.

Proven previous reservoir engineering driven experience Experience in Exploration, Appraisal and Development RE activities; PE/RE in field operational experience a distinct advantage.

Experience in specifying “fit-for-purpose” SCAL and PVT laboratory programs and in liaising, interacting and supervising Core and PVT laboratories
