Job Description

In this newly created Global role you will ensure all relevant activities are within scope including procurement, warehousing, distribution and distribution channels as well as the links with other disciplines required to inform decisions such as sales/sales forecasting, to inform better inventory management.

You will bring together identified initiatives under one programme that will increase the efficiency of the English Language Teaching supply chain achieving the optimal balance between, what on the surface may seem conflicting demands, stock units held, cost of supply and responsiveness to demand. This will be achieved by analysing where we can shorten product and transportation cycle times, and by analysing where and how we can improve demand forecasting and looking at channels to market.

The outcome of these initiatives will be to reduce global stockholdings, improve stock months and maintaining or bettering current fill-rates.

Historically responsibility for the management of inventory, the supply chain structures and supporting processes has been lodged locally within the regional branch structure. As part of the transition to become a globally structured and managed operation, the English Language Teaching function has made some significant strides in globalising the management of specific activities along the end-to-end supply chain.

Physical product procurement and inventory level control direction and management agendas are global.

However, it has become apparent that individual improvement initiatives currently in train, coupled with a broader look at the whole end-to end process, including distribution arrangements, need to be drawn together under one managed and coordinated programme to achieve the overall desired outcome – ensuring that we have a supply chain that delivers, both cost-effectively and responsively, product to market in the right quantities, at the right time and in the right place.

The successful individual will have in-depth experience in setting up a fully comprehensive global supply chain structure that streamlines and improves efficiencies across a business.  Significant experience in a comparable role and the ability to develop a new role and embrace change and provide new supply strategies are essential.
