Job Description

The purpose of this role is to lead medium to large size project teams (10-15 engineers) that implements standard engineering solutions along with customized (complex) specials, if required to successful completion within budgeted time and cost constraints and to required quality.
The Senior Technical Manager is technically responsible for the overall technical design and technical scope of the systems and/or solutions in scope of the project, fully in line with Honeywell standards, design rules and guidelines. The role will support the implementation of projects in line with P&AS objectives including continuous improvement of margin, customer satisfaction, schedule, working capital and safety performance.
The role would functionally manage a group of engineers in areas outside of direct project scope. Examples of this are day-to-day management activities, training, knowledge sharing, assigning to projects, etc.


• Acts as technical interface with customers, establishing professional relationships to ensure that the technical project requirements are fully defined, agreed and delivered within schedule and cost constraints
• Provide support to Branch Leader for work force planning and engineering teams personal development. Provide support to drive the continued improvement of the team’s skills and effectiveness
• Responsible for the career development of their direct reports and support future management/engineering capabilities with attractive career plans created and aligned with the Branch Leaders
• Manage the development of functional and detailed technical design specifications and provides technical leadership, support and broad expertise for multiple disciplines
• Acts as technical interface to 3rd party suppliers to assure correct functionality of the 3rd party deliverables including the correct integration of those deliverables in Honeywell systems or solutions
• Ensures that required prerequisites (e.g. design inputs, tools, documentation, deliverables, schedule, budget) are in place prior to commencing work
• Produces and/or approves functional and detailed design specifications and provides technical leadership, support and expertise for the project team
• Ensures that the engineered solution meets project requirements, across all disciplines, in terms of functionality, Honeywell standard designs & design rules, quality, and supports documentation and implementation process at minimum cost by optimizing use of global productivity tools and other Standard Builds deliverables
• Ensures that work assignments and sub-contracted work are executed to appropriate technical requirements, standards and quality systems (Implementation, Test end Documentation)
• Monitors and controls technical project scope against the Project Execution Plan and Functional & Detailed Design Specifications, ensures effective change control and identifies risks / opportunities
• Shares technical knowledge with project team, supervisor, engineering disciplines and ensures lessons learned reporting at project completion
• Proactively recommends potential quality and efficiency improvements and shares technical knowledge back to Discipline Communities, the EEX organization and the project team
• Reports progress and technical problems and/or changes to project manager
• Actively contributes in the pre-engineering phase of a project. As such, identifies to the customer which information is required before project starts


  • Bachelors Degree (or Higher) in Engineering- Electronics, Chemical, Instrumentation preferred
    15 years + experience gained from Industrial Automation within Oil/ Gas/ Petrochemical Industry
  • 7-10 years + experience gained within a multiple project environment
  • 5 years + experience of managing 10+ direct staff
  • Awareness and understanding of PMC tools such as P3 Primavera or MS Project
  • Recent experience of schedule and commercial reporting on technical scope execution
  • Demonstrable financial acumen
  • Six Sigma Certification
  • Fluency in Written & Spoken English
