The Programme Technical Director will provide overall technical leadership of the SuNMaP
programme with a focus on public sector interventions.
To provide strategic technical directions of the programme on public sector, working with other
senior programme staff and SuNMaP Technical Advisers to develop and periodically refine programme strategies
To coordinate the development of the technical aspects of the programme implementation approaches, ensuring appropriate consultations with stakeholders at all levels
To provide technical support to relevant branches in NMCP
To support NMCP stewardship role on public private partnership in collaboration with SuNMaP Commercial Sector
Manage and provide input into SuNMaP commercial sector strategy
To coordinate the senior technical team to plan for, provide technical input in and monitor activities implementation in capacity building, prevention and treatment communication, operational research and monitoring and evaluation.
To contribute to the harmonisation output of the programme
To represent the programme in malaria technical sub committees and other meetings as agreed with the Programme Director
Line manages Communication Specialist, Clinical Specialist, Capacity Building Specialist and Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist
Line manages medium to long term consultants as agreed by the Programme Director In collaboration with Malaria Consortium, Country technical coordinator
Support efforts for cross learning and institutional capacity building across its portfolio of programmes and projects.
Medical degree and postgraduate qualification in international health or related discipline
Extensive experience in malaria control in Africa, including some at international level
Experience and understanding of working with Ministries of Health in policy and strategy formulation
Experience of training health workers, preferably both public and private sector (formal and informal)
Significant experience in project management and planning
Excellent writing, reporting and presentation skills
Good communication skills with a variety of audiences inside and outside the organisation
Excellent personal and time management skills
Experience and understanding of Nigerian context
Work Based Skills and Competencies:
Proven technical skills in malaria, including malaria case management
Able to delegate efficiently and technically support teams with no direct line management responsibility over them
Ability to keep up to date with relevant scientific research and applications for local context
Excellent writing and presentation skills
Good budgeting skills.
Excellent team management skills
Comfortable participating in health advocacy activities
