Job Description

The company is a leading retailer of School wears and accessories, supplying high and mid-end private primary & secondary Schools. The company has retail shops in Lagos and Abuja and delivers in wholesale quantities directly to various customers across Nigeria. 

In line with its current business needs, the company is looking to hire a supply chain manager. The company is interested in an individual with experience in supply chain management especially in the retail/wholesale sector.


The Supply Chain Officer will broadly be responsible for the following:

Formulating policies, procedures and processes for supply chain management: Review and regularly update the company’s supply chain management manual. This contains the policies, procedures and outlined processes to be followed in ensuring a seamless supply chain

Stock and inventory management: Using the company’s software to ensure a scientific way of collating stock orders from the retail outlets and wholesale managers. This will also entail coordinating all stock counting exercises, ensuring the variance levels set by the firm are not exceeded

Managing suppliers: Develop a framework for sourcing and managing the company’s suppliers across the globe. Developing and writing the Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for the vendors, negotiating competitive rates and continually serving the best interest of the company

Managing Local Purchases: Coordinate the process of procuring some of the items sourced locally. This will include periodically checking prices to ensure the company’s interest in protected  

Managing local production: Oversee the firm’s local production process – sourcing suppliers, monitoring the production process , ensuring quality control and delivering on time

Managing logistics: Determine the most cost effective importation process for the company’s oversees goods and coordinate the sequence of activities from the confirmation of payment to the suppliers, through the port/airport, to the central store and out to the retail outlets/customers

Store management: Will oversee the store manager – ensuring the standard operating procedures developed for managing the store is strictly adhered to. Develop and continually update the company’s store arrangement framework. This will also entail using the company’s software to manage the process of sending out waybills to the retail outlets

Initiate and lead cost saving initiatives: Strategically think regularly to review processes in the supply chain with the bid to continually reduce cost and stay within the budget limits sets by the firm

Retail coordination: Coordinate operating activities within the company’s retail stores – stock management, sanitation and arrangement of stores and general customer service


The ideal candidate should

Have between 3-5 years’ experience in supply chain management 

Should have experience in the trade sector – retail/wholesale 

Should be flexible – find it easy to adapt; able to work under immense pressure and deliver under tight timelines 

Should have the ability to conduct research, basic analysis and able to make sound recommendations/proposals

Have very good relationship management skills – with the ability to negotiate and motivate people to get things done

Possess good oral and written communication skills
