Job Description

We are currently looking to recruit an experienced Techincal Manager to support the GM Technical, in advising, developing and supporting implementation of all Select Auto technical and capability activities, across current & future operations. The role will require a high level of travel & time spent at all Select Auto in-theatre territories.


Further, the key accountabilities are as follows:

  • Design and develop Standard Operating Procedures and Systems, in support and enhancement of operations to ensure efficiency & utilisation targets are maintained for all Select Auto maintenance locations. Provision of advice and guidance on systems processes and review of workshop KPI’s across all areas including Light Vehicle, Heavy Vehicle and Equipment and Power Generation
  • Foster positive environment to create high-achieving teams through sound technical guidance & advice
  • Serve as point of escalation for Program/Project Managers to resolve technical issues or identify if further escalation is required. Manage escalated issues until sufficiently closed
  • Interact with all internal functions; business development, design engineering, quality, purchasing, and marketing to provide as required, technical expertise and input to formal bids and contract submissions.  Inputs to include the correct spec’ing of capital leasing & rental asset investment (all product types) for both individual & fleet assets. To be an integral part of the procurement process, advising the Procurement Team in the purchase of these assets against the identified specs & correct vendor selection. Establish aftermarket support with the vendor/s (warranty & training) as part of the complete procurement process
  • Support GM Technical & GM Ops on all technical advisory matters relating to existing, developing and future operations across all location
  • With minimal input from GM Technical, lead on analysis, review & development of technical / product solutions against a given requirement, for BD, Operations and other activities as required, across all Select Auto service offerings
  • Through provision of advice and guidance on technical aspects, participate in the review of suppliers and vendors  to facilitate procurement of capability and cost effective supplier selection



To be successfully considered for this role, you must have the following experience, skills, knowledge & competencies;

  • BTec/City & Guilds in automotive studies – general, light & heavy
  • Nebs (or equivalent) in business & finance studies
  • 10 years of relevant work experience is required
  • Understanding all of the technical detail of the products used in all operations, both electrical and mechanical
