Job Description

· Manage the technical work of major performance & emissions development projects 

· Provision of technical leadership to development team, including interacting effectively with test cell staff 

· Carry out engine performance predictions/simulations, concept designs, test and development 

· Utilisation of VPI procedures and engineering standards in performance development 

· Technical support to other Cummins entities with reference to local products & test/development methods 

· Lead technical reviews, FMEAs, design reviews (functional and cross functional) and be able to communicate at all levels & provide creative, innovative contributions in area of technical expertise and mentor others 

· Develop and provide specialist training for the development team or technical function 

· Schedule test work and analyse results in a timely manner avoiding excessive test cell downtime 

· Be department or site expert on one or more product, technology or test methodology, develop new or improved techniques and procedures 

· Be familiar with exhaust gas after-treatment technologies for diesel engines and hold more detailed knowledge of the specific technologies used on locally developed products 

· Support departmental Six Sigma objectives as required, sponsoring or running projects 

· Promote and follow departmental safety guidelines and support safety team as necessary 

· Diagnose root cause and manage resolution of facility, engine performance and/or mechanical issues 

· Be familiar with engine management systems and fuel systems employed on products utilised in European markets 

· Be fully conversant electronic engineering tools (e.g. Insite, Calterm III etc) and analytical software (e.g. Excel, Matlab) 


Bachelor’s degree minimum (Masters preferred) in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering 

· Experience with operating in an engineering test facility preferred with significant experience 

· Distinct interest in engine performance development 

· Experience in focused technical area of expertise such as IC engine combustion or mechanical development
