Job Description

As part of Chevron Gas and Midstream (CGM), Chevron Supply and Trading (S&T) is the critical commercial link for Upstream and Downstream & Chemicals (DS&C) to the market. S&T applies its knowledge of commodity markets, the crude-to-customer value chain, and liquefied natural gas (LNG) and pipeline gas businesses to maximize the value of enterprise assets. Through Crude, Products and Gas Supply & Trading (CSAT / PSAT / GSAT), S&T buys, sells and supplies crude oil, refined products, natural gas and gas liquids to support Chevron's crude and gas production operations and its refining and marketing network. S&T integrates enterprise-wide supply and trading capabilities to capture commercial opportunities across the entire value chain through commercial functional excellence.

The Trading Analyst will work closely and liaise with the traders, operators, accounting, credit accounting, risk control and other global trading offices world-wide in order to manage trading positions and portfolios within the Integrated Commodity Trading System (ICTS). More specifically, the Trading Analyst is responsible for data entry of physical and financial positions into the ICTS. The position is responsible for tracking and analyzing all aspects of profit and loss ensuring the correct mark to market of portfolios. The analysis provides an understanding of the reporting requirements of the trading teams and senior management.


  • Inputs Trade data into ICTS and verifies trade entered by traders
  • Maintains and updates ICTS as cargo status changes
  • Runs daily reports and ensure correct Mark to Market
  • Provides explainers to Risk for portfolio MTM moves
  • Initiates portfolios and retires inactive and closed portfolios in conjunction with accounting and compliance
  • Liaise with Risk control with regard to the introduction of new risk markets, commodities and counterparties within ICTS
  • Reconcile exchange future data with back-office and ICTS to ensure accuracy
  • Update cargo data for hedging on the hedging schedule and whiteboards
  • Assists traders with other ad hoc tasks and projects
  • Coordinate the gathering of documentation for bi-annual SOX testing
  • Prepares weekly/monthly input into earnings forecasts, variance explanations, and reconciles discrepancies with accounting
  • Understands the basics of Supply function and is able to answer calls and respond to pricing, earnings, and other inquiries from our customers, accounting, and other groups
  • Tracks futures contracts execution and other hedging programs
  • Requirements

  • A Bachelors degree (or equivalent) is preferred
  • An understanding of trading terminology, market exposure and the impacts of changes in market moves to these exposures would be advantageous
  • Fully conversant with trading system (preferably ICTS) capabilities
  • Excellent PC skills, with the ability to extract raw data and utilise within spreadsheets and databases
  • Capable of analysing problems in a logical manner and recommending solutions
  • A self-motivated, enthusiastic, high-energy individual with good interpersonal and communication skills
