Job Description

Job Summary:

The Incumbents oversees the strategy and implementation of the Company's social responsibility objectives. These objectives can include minimizing effects the business has on the environment, human rights, control of a political unit or to increase self-regulation. The Incumbents must therefore have knowledge or expertise in these areas to minimize risk and proactively support and drive initiatives that benefit the company and the communities it serves.

Duties and Responsibilities:

* Incumbents reinforce the Company's social responsibility policies through communication and internal branding to heighten the company's perception for potential recruits, both entry-level and experienced and reinforces these policies to current employees for the purpose of increasing philanthropic giving, community outreach and volunteerism.

* They work of the Risk and Compliance Team to ensure policies and best practices are in place to minimize risk to the public. He or she also has responsibility over branding by teaming with Business Development and Public Relations Team to proactively market the brand and increase ethical pride. In this capacity he or she wants to show the public that the company takes social responsibility seriously.

* Diversity is also a key component to his or her responsibilities as this area is critical to ensuring the company's workforce is open to all employees and that promotion from within is taken seriously by management.

* They work in partnership with community groups, co-ordinating volunteer activities and events, drumming up support and persuading employee participation

* Presenting to CSR stakeholders, selling the business case of a CSR programme, negotiating and overseeing sponsorship deals and other educational or environmental partnerships

* Organising educational workshops to coach CSR champions across the business and promoting activities undertaken, both to the media and to other stakeholders

* Setting up forums where employees can share ideas, measuring the uptake and outcomes of CSR campaigns and looking at investments making sure they are socially and ethically responsible

* Excellent interpersonal skills

* Creative in Selling

* Business insight and commercial awareness

* Adaptability and empathy

* Strong leader and team players – but also ‘self-starters’ able to work with minimal supervision

* Integrity and open minded

* Persuasive and self-confident presenters, able to sell in business cases

* Understanding of different educational, human rights and sustainability issues

* Well-developed communication skills, both verbally and in writing

* Ability to influence or convince, with political and environmental awareness

* Understanding society and the positive affect CSR can have on the external environment

* Knowledge of how CSR influences stakeholder relations

* How CSR fits into the wider strategic business context and company brand

Education and Qualifications:

* HND or Bachelors Degree

* People move into CSR work from all sorts of professions. Many also combine it with other day-to-day duties, thus any marketing, PR, internal communication or HR experience can be helpful.

* Any other Administrative or Human Resource Certifications OR NGO Experience, whether public or personal would help.
