Reporting to the Vice President, Hotel Openings and Transitions, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

• Responsible for setting up and/or directing the set up of all financial and legal systems and platforms
• Establishes and manages the preopening budget and subsequent updates
• Performs the role of acting Financial Controller until the hotel Financial Controller is hired and on-site
• Co-ordinates all pre-opening financial activities for new and transitioning hotels globally
• Manages the pre-opening budget including presenting to Ownership Group
• Co-ordinate all financial systems set-ups (PMS/POS, Accpac, Hyperion) and training
• Ensure legal requirements have been met (eg. Insurance, Workers Compensation etc.)
• Manage training of hotel accounting staff and relevant department heads on policies/procedures and systems
• Involved in hiring the key finance team members, with the hotel Financial Controller

Qualifications:

• A professional designation (preferred) or acceptable university degree with an appropriate specialization in accounting or equivalent work experience is required
• Participation in a hotel openings or transition is an asset
• Minimum of 5-10 years of senior hotel accounting experience
• Professional written and verbal communications and interpersonal skills
• Excellent analytical and system skills
• Ability to motivate, direct and lead teams
• Hands on leader with excellent time management, critical thinking and organization skills
• Flexible to travel for extensive periods of time
