Job Description

Baker Hughes is searching for a Manager for Global Market Research and Analytics in Houston, Texas.  Under minimal supervision you will research & analyze industry players and trends while providing clear & concise analysis to support strategic decision making.  If this sounds like your past experience and you’re interested in a position with high visibility then this position could be for you.


As an experienced researcher you will provide timely and high-quality authoritative research to support requests from senior, regional and product line leadership teams, including various support functions such as investor relations and Corporate Development.   The research supports data-driven deliverables in response to customer needs, including in-depth complex information that identifies key industry players and trends in order to support strategic decision making.   The Manager for Global Market Research is responsible for undertaking research and packaging the results into synthesis-driven deliverables using a range of internal and external specialty tools, resources and databases. You will team with colleagues supporting the Global Marketing function and contribute to analytic deliverables and white papers.   In addition, you will provide coaching to customers on the use of knowledge tools and assists customers in identifying resources that address their requests and champion the sharing of knowledge within the firm.



  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent.
  • 8+ years experience in related field. (Oil and Gas experience is a plus)
  • Delivers synthesis-driven qualitative research to fulfill both structured and unstructured requests often under minimal guidance
  • Collaborates across the organization and conducts research to support the creation of thought leadership; prepares and assists in the completion of market outlooks and industry trends
  • Leverages an extensive range of external and secondary research resources for information gathering
  • Understands financial statements and can blend inputs from qualitative and quantitative sources into a compelling narrative
  • Excellent research and problem-solving skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; proficient presentation skills
  • Proactive attitude

  • Good project and time-management skills; able to complete multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong work ethic and good team player, confident working in a virtual environment
  • Proficient in retrieval of information from proprietary online databases, wire services, the internet and other secondary sources (e.g., Bloomberg)
  • Passionate about research in the oil & gas industry
  • Excellent Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Able to interact with all levels, including senior management
