Job Summary

The Global Enterprise Program Architect is an architecture resource that translates business vision and strategy into an effective enterprise program by creating, communicating, and refining architecture insights (requirements, principles, models) that define program/portfolio architectures into enterprise implementation. The goals of the Program Architect are to implement architecture efficiency and consistency into the enterprise via the large transformational programs. They are responsible for delivering architecture views aligned to the business needs at the program level. 

The program architect will, together with the Business Architects for the relevant portfolio support the Technology Officer / Service Delivery leads (including CBS) in managing the key business stakeholder relationships and developing an understanding of the business strategy for the portfolio. The Program Architect will define and evangelize the program architecture to all levels of IT and Executive sponsorship. They will ensure that all roles and individuals are aware of key architecture decisions and advise business sponsors on programs architecture. They create and collect architectural descriptions for the elements of the program, ensuring alignment with the ITS strategy and existing Enterprise concepts, and provide architectural insight for the enterprise program, leveraging the EY Enterprise / Domain Architecture framework and components, and execute and improve a light-weight architectural governance model to ensure that architecturally impactful decisions are kept during the course of project implementation. 

Job Responsibilites

  • Be an active participant in a team of senior and highly experienced global enterprise architects
  • Work with the EA leadership team to develop the vision for the area of specialization and effectively and consistently communicate this to key stakeholders
  • Pursues and builds relationships across business and IT to gather intelligence and bring insight about the wider picture
  • Gathers feedback that helps EA improve and evolve the quality and type of EA services provided
  • Create and maintain artifacts describing program architecture and implementation strategy
  • Provide clear vision for architecture requirements that show models of future state, with roadmaps that steer the implementation of program initiatives
  • Accountability for delivery of architectural description (AD) for program elements (AD of strategy, AD of information, AD of systems, AD of processes, etc), from Conceptual to Logical Architectures, based on relevant Contextual / Business Architectures
  • Accountability to ensure that architecturally relevant (long term) program decisions are made, documented, signed off, and then adhered to through effective governance
  • Responsible for supporting the Program Manager with scoping the program, defining the required architectural skills / roles, estimating the architectural resource levels / profiles required, and the management and quality of program architecture deliverables, including third party and non-EA deliverables as appropriate
  • Ensuring that the final solution is maintainable and supportable within the target operating model for I&O
  • Implementing Program (and supporting relevant non-Program) governance bodies
  • Accountable for implementation of enterprise-level roadmaps (multi-year) at the program level
  • Provide technical leadership, guidance, and support in the deployment of complex applications in global distributed computing environments
  • Ensure overall solution-level integrity of applications and infrastructure and alignment with appropriate existing / strategic technology standards
  • Support portfolio strategic planning responsibilities
  • Collaborate with architects across the enterprise to identify strategic opportunities and in the rationalization of cross segment dependencies
  • Influence segment specific roadmaps and program strategies in alignment with enterprise initiatives
  • Support the development and implementation of global technology roadmaps and application evolution plans
  • Lead the identification and analysis of enterprise business drivers and requirements that drive the future state architecture
  • Facilitate the governance and use of enterprise architecture principles, guidance and reference architectures at the program level

  • Ensures that initiatives and projects are kept true to Strategic and Architectural vision
  • Ensures that key projects and initiatives follow a conceptual architecture
  • Provide guidance and thought leadership to solutions team so that solutions are built in line with Enterprise Architecture principles
  • Drive Re-use and enterprise wide thinking within initiatives and projects
  • Champion the governance and standards processes, balancing that with knowing when to take forward exceptions for business benefit.
  • Promote the successes of EA to build the profile and value EA services and team members bring to the organization through contributing to project success.
  • Commercial knowledge / understanding to help frame RFIs/RFPs, support negotiation with potential suppliers and drive best value outcomes
  • Experience in managing / delivering large scale programs ($50M+)
  • Supervision Respnsibilities:

  • Effectively coordinates work with peers and ensures successful delivery
  • Works independently under minimal guidance with regular alignment with Global Enterprise Architecture Engagement Lead
  • Performance measured only on outcomes
  • Promotes strategic direction of the department to align with the overall Enterprise Architecture objectives
  • Recognizes and manages risks in area of responsibility, putting in place appropriate mitigation plans and communicating these to avoid surprises with key stakeholders.
  • Act as the voice of authority for topics within remit of own area of specialization
  • Assign work across the team that provides opportunities and enables the Enterprise Architecture function to meet its objectives on time and on budget.
  • Provides informal coaching on-the-job to grow team members to their full potential.
  • Deliver results through others, leveraging the ability to lead through influence

  • Job Requirements

  • Knowledge of industry standard Enterprise Architecture Frameworks / lifecycle development methodologies (e.g. Zachman, TOGAF, DODAF) recommended but not required.
  • Strategic skills to propose long-term visions and the ability to translate them into actionable roadmaps that are broadly accepted.
  • Ability to translate business needs into EA requirements, and estimate the financial and architectural impact of EA alternatives.

  • Extensive experience in complex projects with division or company-wide architecture accountability
  • Significant experience in complex projects as an engineering role / leadership 

    Job Requirements: 


  • A degree in Business, Computer Science, a related discipline or equivalent work experience. 


  • Significant experience in Solution Delivery functions with extensive hands-on experience in providing strategic and Enterprise Architecture guidance to large scale IT projects
  • Developing and monitoring the delivery of efficient and effective solutions to diverse and complex business problems 

    Certification Requirements: 

  • Any EA certification is preferred not mandatory
