Job Description

The Role:

Reporting to the Company Secretary and the Head of Legal Services, your main responsibilities will involve:

*Review of all security documents for completeness, clarity while ensuring that all legal risks are adequately covered;

*Advise relevant units on shortcomings noted upon receipt of credit approval and/or duly accepted facility letter;

*Liaising with external lawyers and other service providers on the security documentation process and ensuring that security documents and other conditions have been perfected/ completed prior to draw-down of facilities;

*Maintenance of hard and soft, security databases and managing the movement and the release of securities;

*Drafting, perusing and vetting legal agreements and preparing legal opinions;
Liaising with the various Branches and Departments to obtain information/documents required for litigation;

*Review of court documents proposed to be filed by our Advocates to ensure that the Bank is adequately protected;

*Proper monitoring of cases in court to ensure that the bank’s interests are adequately protected;

*Preparing for Board Meetings and assisting the Company Secretary in discharging such other duties as may be allocated from time to time.

The Person:

Bachelors of Laws (LL.B), Diploma in Law, must be an Advocate of the High Court

*A Member of the Institute of Certified Public Secretaries;

At least three years cognate experience with a leading bank;

*Strong analytical and organizational skills;

*Computer literate and familiarity with standard office computer applications;

*Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;

*Ability to follow-through on assigned tasks and deliver promised results
