Job Description

Job Summary:

The Incumbents in this division will strategically support the Company's Engineering/Construction operations, maximizing the use of pre-fabrication and modularization on our construction projects.

Reporting directly to the Director of Operations the Plant Supervisor will be closely involved in the set-up and then directly oversee the plant operation and facility. This position may involve some travel across the Country to assist with integrating plant operations on various sites.

The Plant Manager directs safety, production, quality control, and distribution of company product through the management of capital and subordinates, within the Construction Site. The Plant Manager is accountable for the Operations within the plant including machine operations, warehousing/inventory, shipping and receiving. He/She manages labour and ensures quality to acceptable levels.

Duties and Responsibilities

* Ensures day to day safe operation of the plant in accordance with the company and facility safety program

* Ensures day to day adherence to the plant quality program

* Determines manpower requirements, with the ability to interview / assess tradesman skills and hire accordingly

* Oversees efficient and effective materials handling operations, including shipping / receiving, and monitors / oversees the ordering of materials and consumables for projects / plant operations

* Implements an equipment maintenance program and ensures the proper working condition of all equipment.

* Establishes production schedules and establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules

* Establishes production standards and report performance against standards

* Works with Construction/Engineering department to ensure smooth information flow between them

* Works with all relevant department to lay out production lines for safe and efficient operation, to ensure the maximum use of available capacity and effective use of labour, tools and equipment

* Oversees product to site installation

* Provides direction/coaching to employees

* Establishes performance standards for Plant Staff

* Manages any performance issues as per established processes

* Establishes training requirements and implements training programs

Education and Qualifications:

* At least 3 years of running a production/ construction facility

* Construction experience OR heavy industrial plant experience required

* Must have supervisory, management and leadership experience, with good communication skills

* Experience using Microsoft Applications (Excel, Word, Outlook and Internet)

*Experience with / certifications in welding, rigging, and overhead crane safety

* HND or Bachelors Degree in a related field.
