Travel agents make travel and accommodation arrangements for their customers. It is their job to find the most cost effective deal within the requirements of their customers. Travel agents book tour packages to different locales and in cruises and resorts.

Duties and Responsibilities

*Making travel, boarding and lodging arrangements for customers

*Getting them a comprehensive deal that is cost effective

*Researching the destination of the customer’s choice and recommending places to visit

*Having a wide network of contacts in different tourist locations

*Depending upon the reason of travel, booking a excellent package for the customers

*Assessing the needs of the customers and adding suggestions to their plans to make it better

*Keep track of international news to know if the destinations are safe for travel

*Keeping records of customers and informing them of the latest deals and discounts schemes.

Skills and Specifications

*Outstanding communication skills in order to converse with a wide range of people

*Skills to multitask and manage a variety of functions

*Skills to work under pressure and quick decision making skills in case the customer makes last minute changes in the plan

*Should be creative and innovative in their approach

*Skills to maintain a huge network of contacts

*Excellent computer skills

*Outstanding interpersonal skills

Education and Qualification

*A high school diploma followed by vocational courses in travel and tourism is basic.
